Warney's high school team has now picked up their two big transfers (a PG and a small forward, both being recruited at the high D1 levels), so he should be able to play without so much of the focus on him.  I think he's still averaging about 17 points and double figure rebounds/game.  I will be seeing him play in February in a showcase tournament.  I will also be seeing Puriefoy play tonight, as there is a huge game in South Jersey tonight (#2 vs. #3).....

Puriefoy versus Curry tonight! Interesting to see how it goes. Here's an article on Puriefoy's season so far.

Amazing high school game last night.  Easily one of the most exciting I have ever attended.  Standing room only, dueling student sections, hot gym, bitter rivals...Paul VI was up 10 at the half, mostly due to turnovers/missed shots by Bishop Eustace (Puriefoy had 8 points).  Second half it looked like a rout, as Paul VI went up 19 in the 3rd quarter.  Bishop Eustace came roaring back, led by Puriefoy, and actually took the lead.  Puriefoy scored 17 of his 25 in the second half comeback, but only hit 1 of 2 FT's to tie the game with under a minute left at 60 all (he was 9-10 from the line).  Curry (JMU signee) then hit a tough pull up with 3 seconds left to win it for Paul VI, 62-60.  I can't wait for the rematch, which I am definitely going to see.....Stony Brook is getting a fantastic player; he hit 3's, penetrated and both scored and dished, and took and made big shots.  Early in the game he had a few turnovers that I'm sure he would like to have back, but was clearly the best player on the court along with Curry, who although he only scored 14, made the biggest shot of the game.  Watching these two D1 point guards go at it was a treat!  Here is the story from the local South Jersey paper:

Quick, was Puriefoy being guarded by Curry throughout the game? I would love to hear that he put up 25 against a CAA commit.

No, Curry did not guard Puriefoy, their other guard did.  They played almost all some type of match-up zone, with very little man to man.  In prior match-ups, they have played some man, but then Curry didn't guard him either.  These two teams play again in February at Bishop Eustace, and could quite possibly also meet in the State play-offs.  This is the best rivalry in South Jersey, and the match-up of the two guards just makes it better.

Warney's ESPN score was raised to 91 or 90 depending on where you look on the ESPN site and he's now the 24th ranked PF prospect in the country.

I'm headed to Bishop Eustace Prep tonight, as they play #1 St. Anthony and Kyle Anderson.  Game sold out in 2 hours, but I have a ticket and will give my thoughts tonight or tomorrow.  Eustace is #3 in South Jersey, there is no way they can win, but it will be interesting to see how Puriefoy plays.  St. Anthony's top 8 are all D1 players, with Anderson already committed to UCLA.  One of the bigs (Jimmy Hall) is going to Hofstra, one of the guards (Jr., Josh Brown) is already pledged to Temple, and others are deciding (Frink, Carey, Cook, etc.).....here is the article I found in today's Phila. Inquirer:

What a game last night!  Bishop Eustace played much better than I thought against St. Anthony, losing 53-43.  Bob Hurley gave Puriefoy a nice compliment; here's the article from Philly paper:

Thanks for the update, quick. I have to think Eustace had trouble matching up with Anthony's size down low.

You are correct, St. Anthony has D1 size up front, as well as their guards.  The game was very competitive, but there was a big difference in talent (multiple D1's vs. one D1 player).  Thursday I will be at the rematch of Eustace and Paul VI, so again I will get to see a really good match-up.....also, below is a clip of Ryan Burnett that I saw on Youtube.  I had heard that he was a long defender who could rebound, but it also appears that he can shoot it a bit with range:

Thanks for video on Burnett. I think what the coaching staff likes about him is he can score in a bunch of ways and is still growing and maturing. Any word on how tall he is now? He definitely looks taller than the 6' 3" he is listed at on ESPN. He definitely has a lot of upside as he fills out his frame.

Warney scored 32 pts in playoff win against St. Patrick's yesterday. This is the same st. Patrick's that UMBC's Chase Plummer attended and was a role player for. Granted I think St. Patrick's is down this year, this is still strikes as a really impressive performance. Warney had a big game against St. Pat's last year as well when he went for double double, I think it was 20 pts and 10 rbs, and they were one of the best teams in the country, featuring Michael Kidd-Gilchrist who is currently putting up really impressive numbers for Kentucky.
