At some point you have to ask yourself why everybody is heading for the exits and wanting to leave the program. That will need to be addressed. There's more to it than just the coach leaving. I can't blame a kid too much for taking a grad transfer shot at a P5 school after getting his degree at SBU, but when you've got kids leaving to play for D2 schools, something is clearly wrong.

I really don't think we have a transfer % any higher than any other school.  This grad transfer thing has become an epidemic of sorts, and the other kids want the immediate gratification.   My guess is that Long made up his mind to leave during (not after) his sophomore campaign, when he saw he was getting scant minutes - he probably said I'd rather play all the time at D2, than watch every one else play at the D1 level.  Moor, on the other hand, went back to his home state (Texas) to play.  Maybe he was homesick or maybe he's got a girlfriend back home.  I did detect a little bit of a Moor attitude toward Ford during one of the timeouts during the game at SF, but that could have been my misinterpretation of body language.

I have the same concerns. This team is in a complete rebuilding mode once again. This year is going to be a disaster, trainwreck. Possibly finishing in somewhere in the middle of the pack this year.4th to 6th place..

Hammer, we have a major core coming back. Assuming we stay healthy, and with the addition of some talent, we should challenge for the top spot. Fail to see your negative outlook.

That is how I see it this season. Young, inexperienced team. It will take a couple of years before they get their act together. To be expected for a rebuilding team with a brand new coach and players.

 ??? ???

I really don't understand this. Last year this definitely would have been the case, but we get three of our five starters back, and Garcia who might as well have been a starter given the minutes he played this year. That's four out of five positions being pretty solid going into the year I think. The only real question I have is at PG. Losing Yeboah is huge no doubt, but at the same time he was at maybe 50% for much of last season. I don't see us struggling. The problem for us isn't so much that we're worse, it's that everyone else is going to be better. Albany is going to be much stronger this year, and with Lamb back Vermont should run the table in the AE, get ranked, and hopefully knock somebody off in the tournament. It'll take some next level chaos for Vermont to not win next year I think.

With all of that said, this team probably won't have the depth last year's team did. We had 8-9 guys who could legit play last year. If we have 7 this year I'd consider ourselves lucky. I could be underrating the transfers we've brought in though, so time will tell. I don't expect us to win double digit games in the non-conference this year, but a 20 win season an another AE title game appearance are more than reasonable expectations for this team.

Very fair assessment, IMO, VA.  Olaniyi, Garcia, Latimer, Otchere, Ochefu, McKenzie, Christie, Ceesay all back.  Pretty good core.  If Foreman and one of the rookies pan out early, we have our 8 deep.  If Policelli is eligible (still probably a remote TBD), then we have possibly a 9-man rotation.

With Ernie Duncan gone, big loss for UVM; almost as devastating as losing Yeboah.  I think we challenge for the top, and finish in Top 3, assuming we stay healthy.  20 win season is fairly high probability, IMO.  Of course, time will tell with all.

NcKenzie, Otchere and Christie are all bench players with limited minutes. Like I said. This team is going to be raw and inexperienced and i am not expecting much out of them this season. Time is whats needed for this team.

I feel pretty good about a top four seed. I see Maine, UNH, Binghamton and completely depleted Hartford as seeds 6-9 in some order, and then Lowell as the likely 5. Vermont, Stony Brook, UMBC, Albany in the top four, with UVM as the heavy favorite.

FWIW, Otchere started every game for us last year, and is the only returnee to have done so. Just 18 minutes a night though. I think we all agree that it'd be great to get him up over 25 in his second season here.

Chair, can you unpin 2018 recruiting? And maybe pin 2021?

I think he meant Ochefu(I used to make the same mistake and mix them up too). He got decent minutes to start the year, didn't play for a month an a half for God knows what reason, and then came back and got some more minutes at the end of season.

a 3 star juco is on our radar- malik zachery, a sophomore. http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/malik-zachery

http://chipolaathletics.com/sports/mbkb/2018-19/bios/zachery_malik_rppo

would be tough to beat out UMass for this kid.

UMass (my alma mater) is BRUTAL right now. 2,000 fans in a 9,500 seat arena, players transferring in and out, just a mess. It would be difficult to find a school with a worse football/hoops combo than UMass. But still the A-10 so you have a point.

A couple interesting 2020 nuggets.

Zed Key (Brentwood) committed to Ohio State. He was on our radar for a while until the big boys got a look at him.
Andre Curbelo (LuHi) narrowed his list to five schools – Illinois, Oregon, St. John's, Miami and Indiana. Rooting for the Johnnies. He looks like a great college point guard.
