transfer tweets: http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/jaden-sayles

just what we needed- and when we needed it.  not terribly impressed with the rebound #s but stats are just that- stats.  i'd like to see film.  and akron arguably plays better teams; he'll be tall for AE.

depending on where he lands though, i wonder if this yet another junior.  likely not.  if he's in policelli's class, that could be a nice front court for a few years.

there's a logjam of bigs at akron and a three star freshman.  that couldve jarred him loose.

by the way look at how many TRs there are at akron!?!?!?! http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/akron

... the saylorman???  ;D

Interesting decommit today from TJ Berger, who we were on before he signed with Penn. Same HS as Chef.

The video’s two years old but it gives you an idea of what he offers - handled the point, looks like he can distribute a little, but best known for his shooting. Anybody here think we can improve in that category?

Looks like the Seawolves have finally filled their last open scholly for the '20-'21 season.  Yet another LuHi kid (to join Policelli and Stephenson-Moore).  This time it's SG Tykei Greene by way of transfer from Manhattan.  If this coming season is allowed to proceed, it looks to me that the team is going to be really strong!!

Just a note re: Greene:  It looks like both he and Jaden Sayles may be red-shirted, preserving some excellent talent for next season.  This could actually be a wise move, as the team will be losing 7 players the next season, and could make good use of the next wave of players to have some experience with the team and coaching staff to ease the rebuild process for '21-'22.

Not really red-shirts by choice; both need to sit a year due to NCAA transfer rules.  Agree that we're building for the future with these 2.  3 guys from LuHi in '21-'22; excellent regional recruiting source.
How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)

I don't think it's a wild idea that Mark Carbone – Joe's brother – ends up here. He wasn't flashy at UNH but did show that he could shoot it. And we lost a lot of shooting. He's immediately eligible.

More brainstorming: Boubacar Diakite just entered the portal. He was at St. John's, then a juco, then Weber State and is now on the market again. He's a curious case because he was a 4-star guy out of nearby OSNA but hasn't really taken flight at the college level. Late in the game, it's not a terrible flier, although VC says he can't play immediately.

In the not-coming-here, old-news category, Tommy Dempsey's kid is leaving Providence. I have to think he's going to Bingo, no?

We just signed Juwan White, a 6'2" combo guard from Butler CC. Immediately eligible.

We won him over a slew of D2 schools including SW Oklahoma State, Minnesota State, Georgia Southwestern, Arkansas Monticello, and Texas A&M International.

let's give him a chance guys.  the players that we've brought in and have all kinds of success, recruited by other programs, transferred from other D1 programs, have got us exactly zero NCAA berths.

In addition to the chance to play on a P5 Conference team, I read the high number of transfers as Boals’ kids leaving and Ford getting his own players.

about branding, and the expansion of the top tier schools, the expense of others: https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/05/scott-galloway-future-of-college.html

Quote
In the case of MIT, Harvard, Stanford, and Cal, people will say they’re sacrificing their standards to enroll more students. The reality is these schools can double or triple their enrollments without sacrificing anything in terms of their brands. Right now, their admissions officers are choosing between Magic Johnson and LeBron James. Every superstar in high school — and there are a lot — wants to go to these universities. We’re going to see schools slicing and dicing programming and product management, and they will have a new weapon: remote learning. The best universities are going to be able to expand enrollment dramatically, which will result in chaos for the tier-two and tier-three school. Nobody’s going to enroll in Pepperdine if they get into UCLA.
