I've come to grips with the fact that we're going to host a D-II or D-III every year. Only once in the last 10 years have we not (2016-17).
I really wish we could get more than the five non-conference games, but looking back, it seems that that's about the average. We've never had more than six, unless you count the 2017-18 season when we had five D-I home games, an exhibition against CSI, and the neutral floor game with Maryland at the Coliseum.
Heilbron tweeted that there's a very long list of teams who wouldn't do a home-and-home with us. I'm sure there's some truth to that, and some correlation with our projected success. Still, when you see the kinds of teams that Vermont got up to Burlington last year – Yale, Bucknell, Harvard, St. Bonaventure, Northeastern – it makes me wonder what makes our situation different.
