Wish you all the best Ronald!

"Albeit with mixed feelings, I have decided to not return to Stony Brook upon graduation in may and pursue a professional Basketball career. I wanna thank everybody that has helped me along the way and especially coach Pikiell for giving me the chance to play collegiate basketball, and coach boals who believed in me this year. Stony Brook will forever hold a special place in my heart and the friendships, memories and personal growth this place allowed me to have are irreplaceable and forever valued. Love you guys. 24."

We gonna miss him. He was going to get significant minutes in the wing/slasher G/F position. I hope Boals can find a Juco or transfer who play minutes and can provide experience and production right away to the rebuilding team.

Wow tough news. Roland was a special player and its not unreasonable that he start looking for a means to establish himself in Europe. He's an incredibly bright and talented kid- I'm proud of how he developed over the course of his career and how well he carried himself off the court. He will have a successful career overseas without a doubt.

This opens up a scholarship- what I hope Boals gets is a solid JuCo big of which I'm sure there are some that would love to get instant playing time at a mid-major.

Brutal.. Roland will be missed.. Boals will have a new team next season. I am sure he will be bringing in a Juco transfer.. Hopefully he finds a Center who can rebound and not afraid to shoot the ball.

Sorry, Hammer, this does not open up a scholarship.  We were one over for next year, and it was always known that someone was going to have to leave.  It's unfortunate that it turned out to be Nyama.

Wow, totally shocked.  Although I thought there was a chance that he might leave to pursue an academic transfer to further along his academic career, I never thought it would be to pursue professional basketball.  For those who know him personally, does he have an offer to play somewhere already?  If not, wouldn't it behoove him to play 1 more year and be a starter and main contributor on SBU?   Of course, I wish the kid well, as he's a class act, but I'm somewhat baffled by this decision.  Please fill in the cracks here, if anyone has firsthand knowledge of the situation.
How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)

Has his degree and he can go get paid overseas. I thought he'd go play his final year elsewhere – even for Pikiell – but this makes sense too. I liked to call him Swaggy P – you took the good with the bad, and there was a lot more good than bad. Whether his shot was on or not, we knew he would always bring his incredible athleticism and energy, and he was one of only a couple guys who could play above the rim and really get to the rack.

He is going to be able to make a nice living playing pro ball as he has a German Passport and is an European National. He will be missed was a real good kid and was a great representative of the program and the school.

Good for him, but we better hope the freshman are ready to go as there is a lot of mins to be filled on next year squad. I think the only two players to guarantee to get major mins next year would be Yeboah and Tyrell.

Welcome to the board, OF.

Agree on the two pegged for major minutes, with Yeboah at the top of the list. I'm looking forward to seeing what Garcia and the noobs bring the table.

Wish him all the best! Can't fault a kid for wanting to get paid, especially if he has his degree.
