Without knowing the system that Boals will implement, I still wonder where we're going to get our points next season. At 8 ppg, Saintel doesn't seem like someone who is going to fill it up, and why did his production come down from his 13 a night his freshman year? I do like that we explored the juco ranks to get some more polished depth in here.

If you were to divvy up 70 points among the remaining and incoming players, how do you think it would be divided?

Walker 12
Woodhouse 12
Sturdivant 10
Sekunda 6
Saintel 6
Garcia 6
Nyama 4
Mitchell 4
Campbell 4
Yeboah 2
Petras 2

I'm not including Thrower, Almonacy or Donohoe.

I'm a bit more optimistic on Yeboah and Campbell than you are.  I also think that, assuming he's fully recovered from his ACL injury, Sekunda could be counted on for substantially more scoring.  Additionally, just curious as to why you would think that Almonacy would redshirt, but not Garcia?  My thinking is that Garcia could be a prolific scorer.  If 6 points would be it for him next year, my guess is that he would redshirt as well.

Who knows if Garcia will be fully healthy? He underwent knee surgery if I'm correct in the offseason. Ideally, I'd redshirt Almonacy too given that he needs time to refine his game and bulk up considerably. However, we don't have a true backup PG on the roster so he may be pressed into playing (particularly if Thrower isn't on this team).

I'm not sure how much to prognosticate Saintel- he was having monster games in the middle of the year but tailed off. His type of athleticism isn't in our conference so I think his performance is unpredictable.

Honestly, our team is a big wildcard. If Boals gambles and hits a homerun with Saintel, we'll be in good shape next year. In this league, having one stud can really give you a heads up even if the rest of the team is mediocre (see Hartford last year with Pancake). The biggest question I have is what we have with Alonzo- he comes from a powerhouse program (Gahanna) but was a backup player there. You can't teach height either and there aren't too many legitimate 7 footers in this conference.

I dunno, I'm cautiously optimistic. Anything can happen in March obviously but I think we'll be a solid team this year.

Same here.. cautiously optimistic. But Checkmate does bring up an interesting and legit angle that I didn't think of before.. that we might have trouble getting points. We will see. I was expecting (or probably hoping) Thrower to make a jump in terms of contribution and production but he might not even be on the team. Any news from the court hearing?

Without knowing the system that Boals will implement, I still wonder where we're going to get our points next season.

A lot of unknowns with this team. I suspect 70  some odd points  could be a high end limit . It also depends on how Boals plays defense man to man or zone.  If we can keep the other guy at around 60 something we have a chance . Still see only 15-17 wins next year  and hopefully a 3rd place finish at best.

At first, I had it at 65, but then I saw most teams in the league were in the 70s. I think we're really going to have trouble scoring with any consistency, which is why I think Garcia is forced into action, assuming he's healthy. I know very, very little about the RS guys other than Campbell is pegged as a jump-shooting. Between he and Petras, I'd love it if one emerged as a serviceable backup/complement to Sturdy.

I would be fine with Thrower as a backup PG if he comes back. It was a luxury to have Tre and Woodhouse this year. If Thrower's out, do you throw Almonacy in there? I saw very little in the times I watched him, particularly on defense.

From what I gather from his social media, Nyama was playing hurt last season. If he gets healthy, I expect him to be an impact player. I've also been bullish on Yeboah. I don't really know much about him, but he was playing in the elite pro-league in England and his team won the championship. I also think he was also an all league player in the division. Granted the English pro isn't saying much (I think Danny Carter averages around 20 pts a game for reference) I like the production he had over there.

I think Yeboah is probably the greatest unknown on our team. I have virtually no way to project him- players from England generally aren't impact players here with some notable exceptions (e.g. Luol Deng). I think he's got the physical tools to be a nice rotation player next year.

I trust Coach Boals and his judgment on playing time issues. He's been around high end NCAA talent for the last several years. With the exception of Woodhouse, it will be a lot of guys fighting to earn their playing time. I, for one, am excited to see what comes of that.

I am gonna miss Warney so much.. I got too used watching Warney making buckets near post look easy. I don't think we have any post player... It's gonna be a lot of jump shots and guards getting to the basket for lay up

I see that SBU has offered a JUCO PG from the west coast (L. J. Westbrook).  He looks like an interesting recruit.  But, what it says to me (since there are currently no schollies left for this season), is that Deshaun Thrower must be about to be gone!!

Do they have to offer Mitchell a scholarship since he'll be a 5th year senior?

Obviously can't say much based on video from HS but he seems like a solid player. Would be nice to get some instant experience in the backcourt.

Saintel looks like he could be a beast. Add in another JuCo that fits what Coach Boals is doing and you may have something this year when you add in the returning players.
