2016 Recruiting
« on: May 04, 2014, 09:45:52 pm »
Never too early to think ahead!

Per VC we have already have 4 offers out:
http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/stony-brook

We are going to need some PF/C that year since Warney would be gone (already sad just thinking about it) and Sturdivant would be the only big body left.

Great to see Pikiell and his people are already being active in the recruiting front.

Like to  see  we are beating the bushe's. Interesting question on who plays center for the opening tip this year?  Maybe Warney since he probably  did played the position in  high school .  Eric rarely missed a  tip last season.

That thought did come to mind and the first person I thought of was Scott King. King is 6'10" could probably jump very high considering how lanky he is. I think Warney is to beefy to be our tip off guy, but who know !!

Once Coach P. gets a calibration on Tyrell Sturdivant, it would not surprise me in the least if he ends up as the tip-off guy.  He's not as beefy as Jameel, but quite athletic, from what I've heard.  If he lives up to his expectations, seeing him and Jameel play in the front court together when SBU decides to play big could be quite a treat.  When they want to play smaller, switch off Sturdivant with Nyama.  Whaddya think????

SBUGOLD good  deal. Eric was  master on winning opening tips so  King or Sturdivant would work.  Having him and Warney up front at the same time would be huge  both getting  the ball from Purifoy and Thrower inside.

I love local talent. Just look at the SB girls lacrosse team. Just about every player on the team are from Long Island..Michael Almonacy is a small guard, 6'0" 160 pounds. Maybe coach P can start looking for some big, P/F kids. They're out there , he just needs to convince them to play for Stony brook!!!!!

This had been anticipated for quite awhile now.  And, he looks like he should be a good one!!  He certainly comes with excellent credentials, and should bring in some local fans to the arena.

I agree. i would still like to see coach P bring in a Power forward to replace Warney.. This is our only issues on offense at this time. Coach P apparently went heavy into a shoring  up the PG position

This is a  good pickup for us for sure.  Now to get our bug guy 6' 8  or taller that can score and defend the basket.

You should tell him to recruit Warney's replacement.  He probably hasn't figured it out yet.

I wonder if/suspect Alonzo Campbell might be doing a prep year after missing his senior season with the broken ankle  making him a 16 recruit
