We should probably see what info we can find on its severity before we count him out for the next 18 months. I'm thinking knee too, but that's purely conjecture.

We haven't mined the juco ranks much (I know it can be dicey). Tyquan Scott (6-7/210) was a beast at Long Beach and is off to a nice start at Herkimer. He was a high jumper in HS. No idea on academics.

Heck, we'll take Pat Dorrian on the basketball team too if he can play baseball for us in the spring.

Even if it's not a knee, Pikiell likes to redshirt freshman when he can (Walker, Nyama, Mitchell, Campbell, Yeboah  etc). I think it's a pretty safe bet we won't see Garcia play next year.

Hoping and assuming Campbell and Yeboah can contribute next year, I think it will be a very tight pack in the AE with the likes of UMBC/Bing/Maine continuing to improve and SBU dropping off perhaps not as much as some might think. Everyone could be around .500, and it will all depend on who's hot in March.

But I have to stop thinking about that now....we have a run to finish this year!

I see next years starters as Woodhouse, Sekunda, Walker and Campbell . Maybe Sturdivant or Nyamma  with Alomancy  filling in behind Woodhouse. Puriefoy did the same thing with Dougher in his Freshman year.

In my opinion, Woodhouse, Sekunda, Walker and Nyama are locks, and I'd be surprised if Sturdivant wasn't the fifth. Of course, this is without seeing the redshirts or the incoming players, but that's still a solid first five. Nyama started all 35 games as a freshman; he should definitely be on that list. Tyrell's done enough with the time he's gotten to get a chance.

It isn't as brawny as this year's team with Jameel and Rayshaun and more like what we see from most AE teams.

Just FYI for those interested in getting a look-see at Mike Almonacy--SBU's top recruit for next season.  He'll be playing on SNY tonight when Brentwook plays Christ the King.  Should be a good game and a fair test for Almonacy.

Tuned in to see Almonacy play last night.  Very disappointing.  I'm sure it was very atypical of his play and capabilities, and he intimated as much in quotes in today's Newsday article.  It's evident he's a lot better than what he showed, but I'm guessing he may need a redshirt year and some weight training before he's ready for the next level.

Looked the same last night as he did against Uniondale – just awful. What's funny is I had said before that I'd bet he idolizes Steph Curry. Seemed so obvious Almonacy (ill-advisedly) models his game after him (he's not Curry; only Curry's Curry). Then I check out Almonacy's Twitter feed and it's all Curry! When Almonacy stops acting like he's the best player on the floor, he'll be the best player on the floor.

I agree. I was disappointed with Almoncany performance as well. He will need to be redshirted before he's ready to play div1 college ball.. The announcer also said Alomanacy could have gone higher than SB and should have waited for higher offers before signing. I'm not so sure about that!!!!

I think Almonacy should redshirt too- he's got a lot of developing yet to do. We don't need him next year, he's gotta bulk up and work on maturing his game. He hasn't performed up to expectations in these games against higher level talent. He's not a plug and play prospect in my opinion but has solid tools. However, its still a long time between now and next year so we'll see how he develops.

The main thing he needs to work on his effort. I saw a player that was lazy on both ends of the floor and fragile both physically and mentally.

It's been pretty quiet on regarding the last available. I'm hoping Pikiell can parlay the recent success and receiving votes in the AP poll into recruiting coup in the spring.
