It's my understanding Coach P is traveling to London to look at a prospect and then next stop Virginia. I have no idea if these prospects are JUCO or Transfers, but I hope he brings in  a starter and not a "work in progress". We have too many of those sitting on the bench already!!

Coach P. better get going with some recruiting for this coming season.  Word is that Ryan Burnett is also transferring, thereby leaving 3 immediate scholarship slots open!!  This could be a golden opportunity if any really good recruits can be seduced!!

I read that on The basketball Forum too. WOW.. This could either make or brake Coach P future. Bring in 3 Transfers ready to go, we go to the NCAA next season. Bring in 3 more work in progress, he's in trouble, My opinion of course!!!

While it would be nice (and somewhat of a surprise), I don't think it's absolutely necessary for Coach P to bring in an "impact" recruit in order for SBU (1) win the AE regular season and (2) finally win the conference championship.

I think Woodhouse will provide more stability at the point, and that Kam Mitchell will be a pleasant surprise this season, as in double digit PPG and 40%+ shooting from three.

Agreed. I actually think this is a great opportunity to bring in transfers that have to sit next year. Also wouldn't mind a couple freshman to balance out the classes.

absolutely necessary, no!. But  he should bring in an another Jameel Warney, if he could, hell yea!! We need a deeper bench Next season.

It'd be great to see a Jameel Warney or Tommy Brenton level recruit added to the roster. Hopefully Coach P will pull it off.  Realistically, to quote an earlier post, we'll see a few new "works in progress". However, I do believe Woodhouse will be the impact player we're all looking for and that some of the current "works in progress" will continue to develop. (I should add that every year I'm convinced that the Jets will win the AFC East.)

Judging from the lack of news, I'm guessing that Coach P's travels to London and Virginia didn't pan out as hoped.  Any hints as to a Plan B for attracting some court help before the season?

I'm not saying that this kid (Campbell) isn't good.  He certainly is well touted in some of the press I've seen (couldn't find any video).  However, he sounds like the definition of a "project", after missing his entire senior year due to injury and weighing only 205 lbs. at 6'11" (big time weight room candidate).  So, I can't imagine that he would log any minutes this coming season.  I also notice that, at least from what I can tell, he didn't get an offer from SBU (only interest).

The candidate from Ohio I would hope the Seawolves are able to get is '16 PF/C Darius Harper.  The offer has been in for some time, and they may have a reasonable shot.  I think he could really be a good one!!

So, that said, I'm left with my original question:  What is Plan B for immediate impact scholarships for the coming season?

I think the immediate impact player for next year is Woodhouse. I know I tend to be a bit too optimistic, I really like next year team as is. I'd like the focus needs to be on replacing Warney, Puriefoy, and McGrew in 16-17

Woodhouse will be a nice addition but we need depth.  If we have  three scholarships  I would look for two of them filled with impact players and then a  work in progress. One or two injuries  would really hurt next year  if  we don't have a good depth .   Its a long season and anything can happen so give me two really good players that can start if needed and then a project for the future.  Also  our  rookies from this year need to improve and become consistent every  game.

Unfortunately Coach P has not been able to bring in many recruits that have provided much of an impact their first year. This year, it will be even harder as the three spots did not open up until after the season ended.

I think it's reasonable to expect improvement from Thrower, McGrew, Nyama and Mitchell. If Warney can improve his mid-range game (and free throws), as good as he is he may end up being the most improved player on the team.
