Seawolves Nation thinks SB basketball is eyeing another conference for their Basketball possibly the A10. I would love to see that but, how many schools are in 3 different div1 conferences, strange....

http://www.imaseawolf.com/2013/08/five-takeaways-from-the-2013-2014-mens-basketball-non-conference-schedule/

Moving ACC or AAC, as the author mentioned, is nothing but a pipe dream. May be in 20 years but I still doubt it. But A10 could be a real possibility in near future. They have lost top teams to New Big East and probably will lose two more as BE expands to 12. When A10 will look for replacements from lower conferences from Northeast, I am sure Stony Brook would be one of the top candidates. We are on par with the cream of CAA, MAAC and Partiot league.

Only question is whether Stony Brook would accept an invitation from A10, a conference that prioritizes only basketball, hurting Baseball and Lacross etc.

ibosbu.. My thought exactly.. This Author sounds a little Zealous, but all good... Could SB actually join the A10 just for basketball and leave the remaining sports in the AE for now? I mean Hey, Football is in the CAA !!! Could a school be in 3 different D1 conferences ????

I don't think so. America East won't let that. If we do get an invite from A10 and our AD does accept it, I think we will be forced to move all our sports to A10. But Lacross will probably find a good home in CAA since A10 doesn't sponsor Lacross.

Thanks for posting the preview I put up earlier this morning. Just to clarify:

Ray McCallum of Detroit was actually drafted by the Kings and signed a three-year deal with Sacramento. Since Detroit's website never updated the roster, I was thrown off until a Detroit message board picked this piece up and pointed it out. It has since been updated...good news is that it's a more winnable game for Stony Brook.

I look forward to posting more pieces here as the season goes on, and hope to enjoy another great year ahead with all of you.

Good article well written!  If we can one of the those 3 -Indiana, VCU or LaSalle that would be sweet. Add a win over Toledo or Detroit .  As far as moving up in hoops the A10 is realistic  - the AAC and the ACC  not so much .   Time will tell.

Looks like the Seawolves have made offers to two more PGs (By my count, that's 5 for that position to date:

--Derrick Brooks (Florida)
--DeShaun Thrower (Michigan)

Thats total 5 point guards we have made offers to. Any idea who is the best of the 5?

He said he plans to visit SBU unofficially in addition to Fairfield and Albany

Jorgensen seems to be really blowing up this summer. His AAU team, New Heights (Coley's old AAU team), won a huge tournament in Las Vegas in July. And Tarin Smith reportedly has over 20 offers. I believe both have been on campus for unofficial visits. Hopefully there's still some interest as they both sound like they would be great additions.

With regard to the point guards SBU has offered, Jorgensen is the one that has really impressed me--both from what other bloggers and teammates have said about him and the video I've seen.  He sure could be a special addition for the Seawolves, but maybe too much to hope for.

In the case of bigger players, from the only video I've seen of Sturdivant (from last December, I think) I wasn't impressed at all!!  He looked careless with the ball when he had it, and lazy and inactive when he didn't.  In the clip I saw, I think I even detected that his coach was upset with him.  Maybe it was just an off night for him.

The PF I'd really like to see the Seawolves get is recently offered Kevin Degnan from Pearl River HS.  He looks terrific, and in his interview he certainly seemed mature, intelligent and right-headed!!

There are 29,413,039 corporations in America; but only one Chairman of the Board.

Sturdivant is visiting LIU and Stony Brook tomorrow. I think it's important to note that Sturdivant is a true big. The stretch 4's highlight films always look sexier, but we really need a guy that wants to bang down low and Sturdivant fits that bill.
