PG Paul Jorgensen has verballed to GW

Rats!!!  I was really hoping that the Seawolves were going to reel him in--even though, with all the offers he was getting, I'm not surprised that they didn't.  But, in light  of the significant interest he was attracting I find it curious that he ended up with George Washington.  Do any of you agree that it seems like an odd choice given his options?

What's a Seawolf?!

Man, I really like Sturdivant's game. He and Warney in the front court could be a deadly combination.

By the way, just paid off my basketball season tix deposit. So stoked!

Jorgensen just had a Q&A posted on NJHoops where he refuted some of the recruiting info that has been put out there.  Here's a summary:

-  He had offers from about 25 schools, but his finalists were GW, Harvard, Lehigh, Fairfield and Quinnipiac (Vermont was his first offer).  He really liked the city feel of GW, and to me it appears that he made an intelligent choice as far as level/league chosen.  GW has a very good returning Soph. PG, so he is probably coming in at a good time, with 2 years to start.

Per Twitter, DeSaun Thrower and his family are expected on SBU's campus today.  He's a good one!!  Apparently, he's quite the FB player, as well.  But, with Paul Jorgensen off the table, I would love to see the Seawolves get Thrower!!

Looks like DeShaun Thrower has commited to the Seawolves based upon his official visit.  I think he's a really good get for Coach Pikiell, and helps solidify the PG situation out into the future.

If Sekunda is receiving a scholly, this would be the last one available for 2014.  If not, there is still the possibility that SBU can sign another one of the wing guys they seemed to have been after.

Great news sbugold

Seems like we are set for the year as you mentioned unless Sekunda is not on schollie.

Thrower seems like a great athlete and has played in decision making positions both in Bb and Fb as PG and QB. Seems like we will be adding a PG every other year.

Per his twitter Sekunda is rehabbing his knee but will play this year. I have a feeling that there is a good chance that he is coming as a walk on rather than on schollie. You are right though that we might sign one more. Pikiell will probably add one more only if he finds a real talent. Otherwise he might keep the schollie for next year.

The kid looks to be quite the athlete, doesn't he?  His excellent vision in finding the holes and the open receivers speaks well for his potential for finding the open man as SBU's future PG, don't you think?

I love the way defenders bounce off him. He's a big strong kid that still has the athleticism to play at rim. He'll be exciting to watch in a seawolves uniform.

I thought this excerpt from the "City of Basketball Love" blog re: one of the Seawolves' committed recruits for next year was worth notin.  I included the portion about Trayvon Reed to keep Sturdivant's section in context:

 "Trayvon Reed (2014/Life Center)
The 7-foot-1 Maryland commit was an absolute force on the defensive side of the court. Reed swatted away shots left and right and forced every team that played Life Center to score from the outside. It was clear on Saturday that his defensive talent and size will be a big asset when he moves to the collegiate level next year, but his offensive game is still very raw.

Tyrell Sturdivant (2014/Chester)
In Chester’s matchup against Life Center, Sturdivant had to guard Reed, who has at least six inches of height on him. That didn’t seem to phase the Stony Brook commit though, as the senior never backed down from the challenge and continually matched the opposing center with great defensive play of his own. That’s been a common theme this summer for Sturdivant, who played well against an even higher-rated center (Kentucky-bound Karl Towns, Jr.) in a game against St. Joseph’s-Metuchen at Temple’s team camp earlier this summer."
