sbugold, this, of course, hinges on the assumption that shooting FTs well in practice will translate into improved performance at the end of an important game. One might think there is a connection there and that spending additional time on FTs (or counseling, hypnosis, rewards) is better than not spending additional time on FTs, but that's not necessarily the case.
Between the bookends of SBUs poor foul shooting I watched a stream of the DII SNHU vs S Conn regional final game. Talented players all in a pressure-filled game for that level, although clearly players less-talented than DI/SBU level. That said, those SNHU guys were just stroking a bunch of FTs at the end to stretch a short lead and put that game away (26/34, 76.5% for the game).
Not to say trying to work on FTs is not a productive task, but some players make 'em, some don't....
