I think the program is solid enough to keep us as a 20 win team (top 3 in America East) for a very long time.  That said, 20 wins and top 3 doesn't translate to NCAA berths.

Things that have changed: Tourney format, players, rules, administration, arena
Things that have stayed the same: coaching staff, disappointing tourney results, 20-win seasons

The only two things that have stayed the same the last 6 years have been our coaches and our results.  We, as a fanbase, have to decide if we are willing to accept that Pikiell will bring consistent regular season success and tourney disappointment.

I survived the beating... nothing else to say. I'm back in the SBUfan board.

Gotta take the loss and keep moving forward.

I haven't recovered fully. but it is what it is. Just when you think we are about to win our first one, they find creative ways to f'ck it up

Much work needs to be done with this team.  Mental errors have hurt us all season . The team talked it up big all season and couldn't  deliver yesterday which I was not surprised  they have been like that all season .    Win big then fall on their faces next week.  If we don't get it done next season I think we are in deep trouble when Warney and Puriefoy leave.  I don't see more than a 500 team playing then. Just too many weak spots with consistency and basketball IQ.

I agree Seawolf97.. Another problem I see brewing with this team and our Coach is. As the disappointments continue to mount and SB gets the reputation of "choking"  every year in the Tournament and Albany keeps making the dance, guess where the better players who are on the bubble of making it into the bigger conferences will consider going? Albany! It's happening already with the Albany girls BB and boys lacrosse.. Pikiell has one more year to make the dance with Warney, Tre, Woodhouse, as our leader and if he cant punch that ticket, Heilbron needs to show his true colors and start looking on the outside for a replacement coach who can!!

CBI it is.. No reason why either SB or UVM cant win the whole thing. Anything less would be a disappointment to the AE!

Are we going to be able to see the CBI games somewhere--TV or On-line?

I agree Hammer its all or nothing next season.  It might be time for a HC  change  if we  fail again in 2016. Someone posted on another board that we have had  3 POY in recent history and none of those guys ever saw the Dance - El Amin, Tommy Brenton and Warney.  Only team in the AE with that stigma.

FYI re: tonight's game:  Mercer is listed as a 2 pt. favorite over SBU.  Hofstra is picked by 6 over Vermont.

GO SEAWOLVES!!

decent first half.  a few thoughts...

puriefoy constantly forces the ball to the hoop.  while this sometimes works, it more often doesnt.

the commentary is awful.  its as if theyve never done a game before.  cmon espn.  SB is in the five boroughs?  american east?

am i broken record, or do we shoot a disproportionate amount of threes for the amount we can hit?

i think we are missing someone who i havent seen mentioned all year- eric mcalister.  someone other than warney who can get tough under the boards.

mercer is good.  they are physical and play hard.  i understand they are missing their star big, who is injured.

They are also missing their 6th man, a pretty talented freshman.

I think the commentators are actually the Mercer guys.  You can hear they are familiar with mercer, don't know us at all (first 10 minutes they kept saying how good Warner is...). All in all, I don't find them too bad.

Totally agree about the Mcallister thing.  Great call!

sometimes puriefoy looks like he's shooting off balance and just chucking the ball up.  i dont get it.

also, mercer is absolutely killing us on the three point plays- in fact i think one they hit a four point play.

again, im not a coach or anything, but why are we constantly shooting threes late in a tight game.  specifically when we suck at threes.

hanging in there, tight game, knotted at 56 with 5min left.

and as i say that, puriefoy has a monster 2nd half.

we got a few gifts in the second half from mercer- prob 3-4x they just threw the ball away.

know who had a big second half?  mitchell.

but we got beaten with late 3s, and an off balance last second shot.  sound familiar?

good season guys.  GO SB

11-19 from the line.  Just like the Albany game.

Well, the season ended appropriately.

AGAINST MERCER
11-19 from the FT line
36% from 3
37% of our 68 shots were 3's
10 turnovers
37% shooting

AGAINST ALBANY
10-19 from FT line
30% from 3
43% of shots were 3's
11 turnovers
36% shooting

Those numbers are eerily similar.
