Thrilling win for UA, and congrats to them.

The history and weight of losses in these big games is no doubt a hard blow right now for the entire SBU program. Well, I guess you work some more in the off-season and try again.

Best of luck to SBU next year. There were some fun and exciting moments in the new arena, and a thank you for those.

This really hurts. I really feel for the players and coaches. Jameel with an awesome tweet though:

you have to love this kid.

This team is going to be an elite mid major next year with everyone coming back plus Woodhouse.

The silver lining is the team got better as the season went on.  Played Albany and Vermont tough the last 3x.  And everybody is back, as was said.

Warney is one class act.

Frankly, I think the Seawolves deserve it more.  After all they were the only ones to beat Albany, and came damn near doing it again, at the Danes house!!  And, let's not forget that SBU beat Vermont (at their house) in the semis.  I think the committee has some discretion here, and they should use it to reward the Seawolves!! ;D ;D ;D

Wonder if Stony Brook will keep recruiting kids, whose only "skill" is moving the ball around extremely well??? My guess is no because Kentucky will probably goblble up those recruits before we get a chance.

I'm glad you have taken over this board and are the one say it as you see it. That was me for a while but i've decided it's not worth it anymore... With that said, I will agree with  you in regards to Cameron Mitchell. Did Mitchell blow the game for us? NO, but he did blow that last play by abandoning his position on Hooley and becoming a spectator.. Had he stayed on the Perimeter where he belongs, Hooley would not have gotten that tip back balland Me and my kids would have been on that floor with the players!

We can't blame Mitchell for losing this game and I'm not. The problem with SB is we only have 2 players who we can count on to step up on a daily bases.. The rest of the team is just taking up space.

After next year season I think I'm going to give up my season tickets. This doesn't mean I won't support and watch them play anymore it's just that I feel SBB will be the bottom dwellers of the AE after Warney and Purifoy graduate. I dont think I can watch MarshMellow man, Petrus, play in Warney shoes!!!

The more I think about it I dont see any of the teams from the AE being invited into the NIT, more like the CIT!!

My only thoughts, just posted on other board...

Win as a team, lose as a team. After another sickening ride home and a little time to process, I guess that's my takeaway.

The need to find singular blame, I don't get...

- Blame Mitchell for a momentary lapse and moving toward the basket following the miss? OK, so does Jameel get a pass for not controlling the rebound, and if he couldn't control it, then doing the absolute worst thing by hitting a canon shot back to the 3 point line?
- Blame the 3 starters who combined for zero points?
- Blame the bench for their 7 points?
- Blame Tre for a killer turnover and missed free throws? But what about the big 3's he made?
- Blame Jameel for the tap, the missed finish on the layup, the missed free throws? But he was a monster the whole game and the biggest reason we were even in it at the end.

I'm old, and I've played, coached, and watched what seems like thousands of games...and this one was truly confounding and unique. I don't know if there's a right or good answer. All I know is that the old adage should rule...

Win as a team, lose as a team.

I don't think we singularly have to blame anyone.  There is plenty to go around.

Warney 20 pts 14 rebs      missed layup for an and 1 3 turnovers 2 huge missed ft                      8% blame
Puriefoy 23 pts 6 rebs       5 to's including huge 1 in last minute poor ft's down stretch                7% blame
Mitchell 3 pts held Hooley in check most of day              1 huge missed assignement at buzzer  17% blame
McGrew 2 rebs 0 points - worst game he has ever played                                                        28% blame
Nyama 0 points                                                                                                                   20% blame
Thrower 0 points                                                                                                                 11% blame
Rest of Bench 4 pts 3 rebs 2 blocks                                                                                        9% blame
Coaching Staff -                                                                                                                   0% blame
Total -                                                                                                                               100% blame

If we had won I would have been more than happy giving you the official divvying up of the credit post.

We missed FT's down the stretch, couldn't break the press, had multiple mental errors, and as a result we only scored 50 pts.  These problems have plagued us all season, and it cost us a championship.

I'm hoping that the coaches, players, and athletic department all use this as an opportunity to recognize where the weaknesses are, and work to improve them for the future.

We'll get a CBI/CIT invite (as will Vermont and UNH), the NIT is not realistic (in my opinion).  It'll give us a chance to end the season on a better note (if nothing else, the last play of the season won't be Trey bouncing the ball out-of-bounds).  Plus, the extra game will get Warney closer to 2000pts.

Much work needs to be done with this team.  Mental errors have hurt us all season . The team talked it up big all season and couldn't  deliver yesterday which I was not surprised  they have been like that all season .    Win big then fall on their faces next week.  If we don't get it done next season I think we are in deep trouble when Warney and Puriefoy leave.  I don't see more than a 500 team playing then. Just too many weak spots with consistency and basketball IQ.
