about to beat hartford.

albany beat vermont by 6- they are now 15-1.  where SB has been a few times.  Vermont is 12-4.  id actually be more worried about them.

in other news NH beat maine, as expected.  so with SB at 6, we play UML.  do i have that right?
I'm pretty sure UML is still not eligible to play in the America East playoffs.
Vermont is a team that's not that good - there's a reason why Stony Brook was up by 17 against them in the last meeting between these two teams before the meltdown by the Seawolves. This Vermont team is the weakest team they have had in the last several years - they actually lost to Binghamton this season. Still, it would have been nice for Stony Brook to have the 2 seed.
Problem is. SB has that Monkey on it's back every time they travel to Vermont.

yes- thats right, UML is out.  thanks for reminding me.  hopefully SB peaks at the right time this year.

if we can beat #13 washington on the road, then beating UA and VT in the tournament is mental and doable.

The assumption is from most and perhaps all (myself included) is that the top 4 AE teams will all get through the first round, but in a single-elimination format anything can happen (and history suggests pretty heavily that the eventual final game will not be #1 vs #2 seeds).

Bing has some athletes and could easily knock SBU out, and it's just as likely in a couple of weeks after some upsets that we have the AE final here on LI.

Hopefully there are a bunch of great games and some (perhaps new) heroes emerge at the end of it all. SBU appears to be playing as well as anyone right now.

To add, SBU has been handed some pretty fortunate gifts to host important tournament games in recent history, and things ain't worked out too well. If it comes down to the need to win two at tough places like UVM and UA, I say good--an appropriate chance to really earn a title after falling flat with some home opportunities!

Best of luck SBU. I'll be there Weds night...

The only upset I would  see in this first round is Hartford beating UNH .  Other than that UA VT and us should win easily .

warney POY: http://www.stonybrookathletics.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/030215aaa.html

Certainly well deserved!!  Now, let's hope Jameel can reproduce his last performance at Hartford several times over to get the Seawolves to the dance!!

I was also very happy to see that McGrew got some recognition (All-conference 3rd team) for the key role he has played all year.

Fun game to watch vs Bing. Not the best basketball, but lots of athletic play and wild exchanges. Congrats to Bing for bringing a tough game and nearly pulling it out. Well, a win gets a trip to UVM...best of luck up there SBU.

Early thoughts vs UVM:

IF 1) the DPOY and POY plays like a resounding DPOY and POY, and 2) the 1st Team guard plays like a 1st Team guard, and 3) the 3rd Team power forward has a solid game, and 4) two others among the Nyama/Thrower/King/Mitchell/Sturdivant platoon play well then SBU has a chance.

If any one of those four things does not happen, I would say not a good outcome for SBU.

Good luck gentlemen! After the collapse vs UVM at home in the regular season, you can't ask for a better opportunity for payback (not only for this season, but for the long history at Patrick!)

I agree.... Interesting thing. Vermont has 1 more Freshman on their team than we do. If you compare Apples to Apples, Stony Brook has more talent and is a more talented team then Vermont with our POY, Warney and Purifoy So, theoretically speaking we should win... One would think SB should win this game, but wait!!!!! It still comes down to coaching and that's where the line in the sand is drawn

I don't see a win Sunday . Mentally this is our choke season and at Vermont to boot.  I see the Catamounts winning by 10 or more.
