UNH beat us at home last year for our only home conference loss last season.  Chris Pelcher had a monster game.  He was a good player for UNH.  They have no one who can even come close to matching up with Jameel this year.  As a matter of fact there are no bigs in the league this year at all.  Last year Albany, UNH, Maine, and Vermont all had very formidable centers.  I hope the team continues to focus on getting Jameel touches.  He has proven without a doubt that he will pass it out to the open man.  I also don't want to be unrealistic, but I would love to see him average 15 rebounds a game in conference play this season.

Solid win over UNH. One request. We have  a new $20 million arena. Can we hire someone to produce the broadcast that knows when to pull back the shot from the foul shooter to actually show if the shot goes in the basket. That and the replays are driving me crazy.

I'll probably be going. I work in the Upper East Side so I should be able to make it. Never been to Columbia's gym before but I'm sure those Ivy suckers will be arrogant. Time to squash those egos tuesday night!!!

http://sbstatesman.com/2015/01/04/stony-brook-athletics-no-longer-shocking-the-world-with-successes/

Quote
Stony Brook athletics no longer shocking the world with successes

It was all over ESPN’s “SportsCenter” last Sunday. The show’s highlight package showcased redshirt freshman Roland Nyama’s diving steal, junior point guard Carson Puriefoy’s game-tying three pointer and junior Jameel Warney’s banker that put the team ahead for good. In fact, the Seawolves even earned themselves a blurb in the New York Times. That is a great capstone moment for an athletic department that had not really had one yet.

The thing is, athletic success is nothing new at Stony Brook. Everybody already has an idea who the Stony Brook Seawolves are. It is no longer about launching the rocket ship.

Instead, “the sky is the limit for the Seawolves,” as Director of Athletics Shawn Heilbron said at his introductory press conference back in May.

columbia game tonight- its snowing up here!!!

they played kentucky tight in kentucky, beat hofstra, nearly beat us on opening day at IFCU.

what we know from last game- they cant hit free throws.  they take a helluva lot of threes (24!!!) but hit ten, thats still 30 points.  they barely use their bench.  if i remember right, their game originates with their guards.  mcgrew had a huge day and warney provides the possessions with O/D rebounds.

i expect we out rebound them.

im 30% going, so let me know if anyone else is.  GO SB

speaking of tech issues... the einsteens at columbia loaded SBU into their gametracker and it populated as st. bonnies.  no one's fixed it. http://www.gocolumbialions.com/liveStats/v2/basketball/index.dbml?GAME_STAT_ID=1808769&db_oem_id=9600

Just got back from my first college basketball doubleheader on the coldest day in NYC this winter. Despite the brutal conditions I was able to attend the Stony Brook @ Columbia game and then took a quick ride on the 1 Train down to the Garden to watch TOP 25 College basketball between St. John's v. Villanova. Night was awesome. We had a small but proud group of Stony Brook fans and were treated to a great win. It always makes me happy to beat any team from the Ivy league. It might not be a top tier conference, but its still a solid mid major. Warney a bunch of points. Its entertaining to see him play, no doubt! Overall I'm happy with the effort and the W.

Villanova-St. Johns was fantastic and had a nice 8k+ crowd at the garden. Its hard to see how top notch college basketball no longer draws great crowds at the Garden... What's wrong with NYC???!

Besides that there wasn't much. Almost had an accident on bicycle as I rode from work so my best bet was to leave it in a rack @ Columbia. I'm okay and a PROUD Seawolves.

GO STONY BROOK!!!!!!!!!

That is some **** Fan-dom, hitting the NYC streets on a bike as part of a basketball doubleheader! I live about 2 miles from SBU and joke with my son that we need to ride our bikes to a game some day. Man, no excuses now.

Here's hoping the Seawolves stay heated up for the trip to UVM this weekend.
