Stony Brook @ Vermont - Patrick Gym NOON ESPN3
« on: January 10, 2015, 11:35:49 am »
I'm ready for the big ball game. If Stony Brook wants to prove its a contender then they should come out swinging and get a big win at Patrick. Vermont ALWAYS plays us well up there and I think we only have 1 or 2 wins up there... so why not get a third win today?

Yeah, I FEEL IT! Lets go Seawolves!!!

Opening few minutes SB definitely didn't come out swinging. Turnovers and missed shots. We better wake up soon and not be intimidated by our record at Patrick. We have a good team now.

Game is a bit hard to watch at times. Glad we not down by more. 24-26 Vermont lead

I mean, Warney can only do so much. He was a man amongst boys today. The supporting cast needs to step up. Puriefoy has been just absolutely horrible the last few games- he's just chucking up brick after brick. Traveling after making that steal was a backbreaker.

Oh well, still can't beat Vermont at Patrick. Some things never change. Not feeling as optimistic about the rest of this season as I was before. We need to get a higher seed than Vermont at the least for the conference tourney- we just cannot beat them there.

Despite all the Vermont mystique over the past few years, the fact is they are a very average team this year. If SBU cannot beat an average team when it matters, then winning over a once-ranked team doesn't mean a whole lot

Gotta say that it was an absolutely miserable defensive performance today. O'Day for some reason gives Warney lots of difficulty but he wasn't the biggest problem. The perimeter defense and guard play was garbage.

"If SBU cannot beat an average team when it matters, then winning over a once-ranked team doesn't mean a whole lot"

Mid-majors beat ranked teams in December every so often (esp ranked teams that are probably over-ranked), it just so happens SBU caught that magic this year. That's all a December game like that means.

And truth is, today's UVM game probably doesn't mean much of anything except just a basketball game on a cold day in early January. UVM/SBU/UA/Hart (barring a major player going down) will all likely scramble into the top 4 in some order, get a home game, then it's simply who is playing well and can win two games in March. Recent history shows that being on the home court for a big tournament game don't mean much. There's your one-bid-conference March Madness!

After Warney (and Puriefoy on a good day) SBU is just a bunch of kids like about everyone else in the conference. Right now, today, looks like UVM and UA playing well, but we got a good month-and-a-half and a lot of games and leg strains and practice and colds/flu to go....

I have learned to refrain myself from negative comments on this board and thats a good thing. I will only say one thing. God help us when Warney and Mcgrew graduate. We will be lucky to beat UMBC in a couple of years!!!!!!

I see I am the first person to post about tonights game and probably the last..... I'll make this short and brief. When a team is up by 17 in the 2nd half and loses the game by 9, houston , we got a problem. Coach P decides to sit Warney out at the 10;00 minute mark because he had 3 fouls and SB was up by 15.. He did not put Warney back into the game until the lead dwindle down to 5. Because of that idiotic move he should be fired...There are many other reason why he should be fired but this was the final straw for me!!!!!!
