Looks like Pikiell got his first (or second, if we are going to count Kameron Mitchell) recruit for next year. Roland Nyama, a 6'5 forward from Cameroon. Currently at Holderness, the same high school as Scott King.

This is a bit of a surprise.  Everything I've seen on him states that he is a SG, but really, at his size and with his skill set, he will probably play the wing for you, being able to guard both the 2 and the 3 positions.  He looks like he has a college-ready body right now, and at 19 already, and with international experience, he should be a bit more mature than the average incoming Frosh....He appears to have very good fundamentals, and his footwork down in the post shows that he has been taught the game well, which is usually the case with international players.  Clearly though, he also has some athleticism.  Most 6'5" guys that come into this league in the last few years are undersized post players, not guards.  As I stated before, you lose 4 guards over the next two seasons.  With Mitchell (?) and now this young man, you seem to be ok in the backcourt moving forward when you add in Puriefoy, Reid and Burnett.  Still IMO need a big in this class....here's some tape on him, both from Germany in '11 and last year at Holderness:

I don't know what UVMhoopcat is talking about over on the AE boards. I love Nyama's highlight film. I agree that he has a rare combination of size, athleticism, and skill with a college ready body. Also, I just realized at 1:35 Nyama draws the foul and get the bucket against the top ranked recruit in the country last year, Nerlens Noel.

UVM   posters are a strange lot.   But our new pick up seems like the real deal nice.

It's kind of funny to me, because I'm not an alum of any school, so I try and look at things a bit more objectively.  I think anyone that reads the AE forum knows that the UVM posters are a very loyal and passionate lot.  I admire that about them, and they should be proud of their history.  But, we also know that they look at things through rose-colored glasses.  If Nyama was a UVM recruit, they would be doing cartwheels.  Now, he's not the 2nd coming, but looking at his Jr year highlights, it's also obvious that he has some skills, and has a chance to be a productive player.  I never want to make things personal, and I see no need to "argue" about players; everyone has their opinion, and that's as it should be.  I stand by my own opinion that you picked up a very nice commit, one who should help not only on offense, but also defensively.  For SB, you need to now see what your coaches do with at least one big in this class, although a large combo forward would probably be best, as you only lose Brenton/Bracey up front.  I don't see a replacement for Brenton right now (right now Burnett or Nyama?).....

Two players high on my wish list at the moment that look like they fit the Brenton combo forward mold are Worthem and Fuchs. It was reported that we're in Worthem's top 8, but he has a slew of offers. Fuchs is a two sport star in Basketball and Football, and last I read he wants to play both in college. I'm hoping Pikiell and Priore can work together and bring him in.

Saw on Twitter today that Worthem is headed to Charlotte on an official visit from this Thursday-Saturday, and then to Stony Brook from 10-3 to 10-5.  It looks like you will have your chance to impress him next weekend.  No other visits were mentioned...

He also mentioned that head coach Steve Pikiell flew to his parents’ home in Germany to talk with them face-to-face. “My mom liked him,” Nyama said. “And she’s not easy to please.”

Looks like Worthem was on his official visit this past week.  Anyone have any feedback or impressions on how it all went?

--I noticed Kam Mitchell sitting on the bench in his hoodie at the UNH game.  It's good to see him on-board.  Does anyone know if he's ever actually signed his NLI to play in 2013-2014?

--Just a question:  I've also noticed Ahmad Walker and Ryan Burnett all hoodied up and on the bench for every game so far, with no signs of them ever participating in action.  Have they been officially redshirted?  If not, am I missing something here?
