Since we are in the off season I think it would be appropriate to have a thread were we can discuss the future of Stony Brook basketball.

Not impressed with the recruiting class, but it's really tough to recruit well when you have four starters and significant subs returning.  I think they get better without Brenton, really the only significant loss, because it forces (allows?) others to pick up the slack.

If you're Braley, you must be happy coming to the Brook.

Don't sell Nyama and Mitchell short.  From what I've seen of them, they'll make great positive impacts, as well.

Agreed. I think we could add King in the mix as well. I think if he improves a little more with his 3 point shooting, then we could improve out over all points per game !!!!!

Stony Brook extends contract of Steve Pikiell through 2017
Seawolves men's basketball coach has led Stony Brook to three America East regular season championships since 2010.

The 2013 Holiday Classic is set for December 7th at MSG. St. John's/Fordham, La Salle/Stony Brook. Solid doubleheader

I don't think there are any Jameel Warney's in this freshman class but I wouldn't sell this class short- there is a lot of talent, and I think the active roster is a lot more athletic this year compared to last.

I agree with sbufan, and if this kid McGrew is as tough around the basket as I've read, he may restore at least some of the rebounds that Brenton has taken with him.  I think some of these guys (e.g. Mitchell, Braley, Walker, Nyama) may surprise a lot of people.

NYC Buckets shows we also play  Columbia and  St Francis (Brooklyn ) at home this season.  The Holiday Festival   should be fun.  Went there  two years  ago when we played Rutgers.

Looking good!. I got my seats today for SB Basketball season tickets, I'm in section 110, G. seats 8,9,10,11 .pretty close to mid court.... I wanted section 108 but they only had a few left and the seats were against the wall looking down at gate 2. Too far over to the left even though they're closer to the seawolves bench then section 110...

Hammer those   are pretty good seats. We sit up top in  section 110, my wife  likes the wall to lean back on.

If you haven't seen it yet this is a link to the new America East brand: http://www.americaeast.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=14000&ATCLID=209210461

There are different logos for each America East school. I couldn't find the link to those. Also apparently there will be a new media network (NeuLion) which will be free and have the majority of the games! (Correct me if I'm wrong). Go Seawolves!

Just saw this from Carson Puriefoy's instagram. I knew he was water bug quick. I did not realize he had these ups.

2013-2014 Stony Brook squad is going to be real good. Jameel Warney is one of the best mid major bigs in the country, which by itself should give Stony Brook a chance to win almost any game on the schedule. Then when you consider all the talent on the roster Pikiell can put around him...I think it could be a special couple years ahead.
