2011/12: Game 8 Stony Brook @ Boston College
« on: December 08, 2011, 12:41:03 am »
Gamethread for the upcoming game against Boston College. Our chance to beat an ACC team. Its a very winnable game. BU did it, hopefully we can do it also!

Absolutely no reason SBU shouldn't win this one. BC is rated about the same as Farleigh Dickinson (Sagarin)...both of which are rated much lower than SBU.

BC lost to Holy Cross by 22. That really says it all right there. I'll be pretty disappointed if we can't pull this off.

I'm rooting for you guys, but I noticed that Al Rapier wasn't in the box score last night.  I don't think you can beat BC without him, as he is by far your best interior scorer.  Hopefully it was a missed class or something of a 1-game disciplinary action, because BC has some interior size, and Joyner is not a scorer.  I can see him in foul trouble, even though BC is a perimeter oriented team.  All 3 of your double figure scorers last night were guards/wings, and without Rapier, it will be tough to beat them.  That said, I'd like to see McAlister step up if he gets the chance to play, as I think he has a lot of talent....has anyone heard why Rapier didn't play last night?

Quick, he was wearing a walking boot but I asked someone and they didn't think it was too serious. Not sure about his availability for Sunday though, and you're right...he would be a big help. Figures the kid gets hurt coming off his best game.

Not looking  ahead but Rutgers lost to  Princeton  last night at Rutgers.  A positive sign for the 17th.

Talk about Harvard in the top 24. Ivy league is poppin'... I usually root for Uconn but I was rooting for Harvard tonight. They had a chance to pull the win...

Really discouraging performance today. Absolutely a team we can handle.
11 points in a half is too big a hole to climb out of.
Fortunately, it is out of conference. But there needs to be some real tangible improvement soon.

Offense in the second half was better (Dougher/Jackson) but others must contribute.

Yeah, they looked like a Division II team today, who were beat by another team that also looked a Division II team (only a better one). It must be poor coaching when all the team does, game after game, is shoot a handful of free throws. I mean, why doesn't someone tell them they have to dribble towards the hoop?

I'm quickly losing my interest in this season. When do baseball and lacrosse start again?

Very poorly played game and again on national TV.  Hopefully they will wake up this   Saturday. 11 points in half is plain terrible. ???

I watched the first half of this game and then had to turn it off.

When does football start again?

I gave up on the season. I wont make the effort to go to MSG this Saturday in between finals. I will continue going to the games here at Stony Brook but I wont go out of my way to watch a team that is not putting any effort to win. Why should I put the effort watching them. They were HORRIBLE tonight. There is no other way of explaining how bad they were. BC is not a good team, and to loose to BC by 15 points means we suck!

These guys gotta step up their game QUICK!

BC is still an ACC team with some high major kids, and we lost this game because their 7 foot center absolutely shut down Joyner and Rapier down low. They won't see anyone that long in the America East. And the team made adjustments and were able to put up 40 second half. It was definitely a case of too little too late, but when the coaches changed the game plan and the players settled down, they were able to put up points. It was a missed opportunity to beat an ACC team, but I still really like our chances in conference.

No excuses brother... No excuses. Boston University did it. We could've done it... As simple as that
