2011/12: Game 13 Stony Brook @ Binghamton
« on: January 03, 2012, 05:32:03 pm »
I haven't felt this good about this team in a while. Coming off from three straight wins, and our first conference win against Vermont is huge. This team looks more confident, and Rapier, Coley, and Brenton are looking great and so is everyone else. Everyone is contributing and I expect a win against winless Binghamton.

Good luck to the team up in Vestal, NY (a difficult place to play at in the past, but this one is a must)

As bad as Binghamton has been the last couple of years, they do get great fan support, so no game is ever easy in there. They can't look past this game and expect to walk all over them.

That said, as long as the team remains focused and remembers to take care of business early (don't give that crowd a reason to become a factor), this should be an easy win. Just close down Dickenson and Mansell and don't give them anything, those are the only two players on their team that can really score.

God sake Brenton is awesome. What a game. We almost lost it but held it together for our first win at the events center. Feels good to have four straight

With that said, I'm f'cking scare of Albany's offense... that sunday game is gonna be a tough one. I

Yes, Brenton can be a first-team! If he keeps playing like that and saving games like he did today he surely can.

From a statistical level - far from it

From an importance to team level - no player is as integral to the success of a basketball program as Tommy Brenton. If we take the AEC and go to the Dance - Tommy should be the one handed the trophy.

I agree. He might not have first team all conference stats, but there's so no way there are five guys more valuable on the court than Brenton.

Got to figure the first team all-conference right now looks something like:
Suero, Partin, McClemore are pretty much leading the pack

Irving is looking REALLY important to BU, who can't seem to figure anything out without him on the court.

Plummer is a decent player on a really bad team, but his numbers kinda slot him near a spot on the list (14.5pts, 8 rebs, per game).

Voekel and Edwards both have value to their teams, but much like Brenton, their value on the court is much bigger than the stat sheet shows.

Honestly, I think that 4th and 5th slot on the first-team All Conference is really wide open.  Not sure how they are going to go about it.  If they go by numbers, he just doesn't fit.  If they go by what they see on the court, he could easily sneak in.
