Thanks guys, but I could have just as easily been wrong, in which case I'd look like a complete idiot! At any rate, if you make some free throws and UVM doesn't get the last couple meaningless buckets, it's a double-digit margin.....to me, that is the way your team has to play in order to win the conference: very good defense, production from the frontcourt (Rapier/Brenton), and someone else in the backcourt scoring besides Dougher (Coley). Before it's all over, you will need one of the following to get back to giving consistent production (Jackson/Bracey/Joyner). Defense usually keeps you in most games, and there are a couple teams in the AE that rely solely on their ability to score (Albany/Maine/BU to some extent), so if you are consistent defensively, you will be in every game. Your ability to shoot the ball consistently will be the difference in winning and losing the conference, IMO........finally, SB has more depth than any other team in the AE. You have players who gave you virtually nothing last night who are capable scorers, as they have shown either last year or earlier this year. That depth should prove helpful as you get into the teeth of the conference season....oh yeah, now I see what all the talk was about concerning Brenton. He is truly a "glue-guy", the player that does all the necessary things to help a team win (rebounds/steals/energy plays/take charges/etc.). Until the last few games, I was wondering about all the hype, but I see it now. Playing him at the 3 position works for me. Very few 3's in this league will out-rebound him, and I like having more size at the power forward position. Of course, all this doesn't mean anything if you slip up and lose Thursday up at Binghamton!
