WBB 2018-2019 Season
« on: May 26, 2018, 10:07:48 am »
Thought it was time to open up this topic.

Looks like Coach M. just landed another excellent recruit for this upcoming season (Anastasia Warren).  Check her out.

That said, unless my counting skills have gone kaplooie, I see 16 players for WBB this coming season.  So, is someone leaving, or is someone a walk-on?  Any insights?

I saw that announcement about Anastasia sounds like a good recruit and smart kid  .  Not sure how the headcount  works with the players .  You can only have 13 scholarship players on a team men or women .  Maybe they split some the scholarships that is legal .

My understanding is that the women get 15 scholarships--am I mistaken?

You are probably right SBU gold . If we have 16  players  then one may be a non scholarship player.

Looks like the mystery is solved.  The 2018 WBB roster has been posted, and it appears that Ayshia Baker is no longer with the team.  So the count is once again 15 on the roster.  Does anyone have any insight into why she's gone?

Second mystery solved:  Apparently Baker has left SBU and signed to play basketball at the Coastal College of Georgia (NAIA program).  I wish her well.

I noticed that Dan Ricard is no longer listed as assistant coach on the roster sheet.  Word has it that he's leaving to become an assistant for the NYU MBB team.  Good guy, who's done much at SBU.  Sorry to see him leave, but certainly wish him well.

Does anyone know what the story is with Director of  Basketball Operations Alioune Ndiaye?  He suddenly no longer appears on the WBB coaching staff list.
