“He told me I could live out my dreams here,” she said. “He told me I could win a national championship in my time here, I’ll be the face of women’s lacrosse and on the cover of magazines. And it’s all happening now. He painted my dream in my head for me and has been making it all possible.”

Dorrien Van Dyke (Stony Brook) scored four goals for the Sound and Christina Esposito (Northwestern) added three.

The State University of New York at Albany had to back out of a non-conference men’s basketball game scheduled to take place at Duke last fall, and the NCAA altered the seeding for Stony Brook University’s women’s lacrosse team in the postseason tournament so they wouldn’t have to travel to UNC-Chapel Hill.

Three former Stony Brook Women’s Lacrosse players were drafted by teams in the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) in the league’s inaugural draft on Wednesday. The five-team association will begin play the summer of 2018.

Midfielder Dorrien Van Dyke was selected by the Baltimore Brave, defender Jessica Volpe was selected by the Upstate Pride, and midfielder Kristin Yevoli was selected by the New York Fight. All three athletes graduated in May 2017 in the midst of helping the Seawolves go 20-2 to reach the NCAA quarterfinals, completing the most successful season in program history.

One must wonder and say to themselves how much longer will, arguably the best women's lacrosse coach in Div1, stay on Long Island. I'm sure has or soon will being getting huge offers to coach at a power 5 school. He is also the HC for the pro Lacrosse Lizards team. I dont know how much he earns in either job, but you would think 7 figures would be in order with a larger institution for women's lacrosse..

every time these conversations appear... it's helpful to keep in context:

-some guys are happy at home
-he's happy at SB and treated well
-camps, camps, camps (read $, $, $)
-job security elsewhere
-very few "bigger" jobs right now, and less likely to open
-will have sustained success in the AE
-money might not be better at other schools; keep in mind the profile/revenue of WLAX
-pool of talent in suffolk alone can sustain a top ten team, perennially
-kids in local schools
-spouse may be employed
-LI Lizards job
-state pension

and ill throw in one more.  spallina reminds me a bit of pete carroll during the USC days.  not only winning, but sort of making it look effortless.

He can stay as long as likes.   I think he would stay even if he won a National Title .

I would be very surprised if Spallina ever left Stony Brook - he loves Long Island!
I'm going to let in on a Little secret - not all power 5 schools pay their non-revenue coaches very well.  The MLax coach at UNC is probably not in the top 20 of highest paid coaches in lacrosse.

I hope he never leaves Long Island and SB also..I was also saying the same thing for coach Pikiell. You only have one go around in life and if the door starts knocking and someone wants to throw big money at you, it'll make you think.
