Recruiting will not be an issue for Joe- he's built these teams on under-recruited Long Island talent. With how good the brand has become, you will be seeing elite level LI talent staying at home. He just seems like an amazing coach to play for.

With regards to the conference situation, yes Stony Brook would have probably been seeded higher as an undefeated CAA team. If they were undefeated in the ACC or Big 10 the same would be the case. What I dislike about these hypotheticals is that there is no guarantee that they would have been undefeated in those conferences. Part of the reason they were undefeated is they played in the AE.

The AE makes geographic sense and budget wise for the university. I'm not holding my breath for a conference move. With continued aggressive OOC games, the seeding will be better. They key will be adding some ACC teams to their schedule IMHO- beating Northwestern/Stanford/USC etc. didn't carry the weight that it needed.

All good points.  What I think is paramount for SBU is to continue to build the local brand, and recruit heavily in the Long Island area - heck, we've got 3 million people who live out here.  Do as Spallina has done, and engage with the local kids.  This goes for all of our athletics programs.  We're the # 1 game in town for college athletics (clearly overtaken Hofstra, IMO) - let's keep our kids home!

Sure, it was disappointing to not get to the Final 4 here, but it is extremely difficult, regardless of seeding and venue, to win it all in these one-and-done tournaments, where everyone taking part in the Tournament is a force.  When the dust settles and disappointment dissipates, the women's LAX team will be able to hold their heads up high and revel in their season accomplishments.  Congrats to them on a great season that legitimately put SBU on the national map!
How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)
