Only watched 2 minutes of this game so far, but I like what I'm seeing today thus far. We're looking pretty good.

Coastal wins 22-17 in what I believe to be the best game of the year in college football so far. Don't let the score fool you, this game had everything.

Coastal is now 10-0 and if this committee has any integrity should be ranked in the top 10 of next week's ranking. What a year they're having. They have a great shot of going to a major bowl this year.

This is a link of the best FCS Assistant Football Coaches who have HC potential

Pick the best one, pay the man, and get him here to LI!!! Last I checked we were paying Chucky P low FBS money for five wins in the FCS!! Unacceptable.

Liberty had virus issues, so Coastal upgraded them by getting BYU to come to town instead. Now we have a top 15 (AP Poll) matchup of undefeated teams with a good chance of it getting flexed to ABC for a nationally televised night game...

Meanwhile at SBU, we're still stuck with Chucky P who struggles to break five wins in the CAA despite having more than enough talent to do so. Sad.

Also as an FYI to the doubters, attendance and fan support ALWAYS increases when you move up to FBS. You open the door to playing much larger, prominent schools when you're an FBS school that you just can't do when you're in the FCS. I guarantee had we got the stadium expansion and moved up to FBS in say 2015, we wouldn't be having the issues we're having with attendance now. Playing better schools would get you better numbers. Also Chucky P would have had to go, but when you're FBS, you become MUCH more attractive to coaches too. Win/win.

There's honestly no good reason a school of SBU's profile should be FCS. The move will happen eventually.

Andrew Garcia with a team-high 22 points in 23 minutes off the bench for Georgia in their 85-75 win over FAMU on Sunday. 6 for 8 from the field, 10 for 11 from the line.

Makale Foreman played a team-high 35 minutes in Cal's win over Nicholls State last night, putting up six points, six boards and five assists. Through three games – in true Chuck fashion – he's 9 for 28 from the field (.321), including 6 for 21 from deep (.286).

No sign of Jeff Otchere with UTRGV just yet due to injury.

Good to hear they're playing well. It's nuts how this team just completely imploded back in March as the world was going to hell. We'd be the clear favorites had we been able to keep all of those guys here. Latimer too. I couldn't even tell you who is on our roster now other than Gueye.

College Gameday will be going to Coastal Carolina this weekend as they take on Liberty at home. CCU is ranked #14, and Liberty #25 in both the AP and Coaches polls. The playoff committee ranks CCU at #20

Makes you wonder where SBU could be right now had we been able to get the stadium project funded sooner and really parlay our Big South success into something larger back when the realignment wheels were spinning. Happy for both of these schools. Hopefully SBU can join them someday.

St. Johns game just added for this Sunday, at 2:30 PM, on FS1.  Pretty cool.   SJU is a wildly athletic team, led by frosh Posh Alexander.

Now that I'm excited for. It's during a Sunday in the fall though, so not likely how much of it I'll actually watch, but if it's competitive in the second half I'll definitely tune in. Any game on a national network is exposure enough during a season like this.

St. Peters?? Am I crazy for never hearing about this school before? I'm guessing they're in the NEC or the MAAC right?

I expect the season to be cancelled before too long, but nobody will want to hear it.

#15 Coastal Carolina beats Sun Belt power Appalachian State at home to improve to 8-0 on the season. The best start for a Sun Belt team EVER. It will be interesting to see where the playoff committee ranks them come Tuesday. #21 Liberty plays at NC State tonight at 7:30.

Lots of great ideas in this thread on how to boost attendance and get this program to the next level. I believe the biggest and best ones would be to bring in a coach who plays an exciting brand of football. We pay Coach P high FCS/low end FBS coach money to get five wins out of it. I say we go after a coordinator from a Big 12 school and have him change the culture around here. They score like it's nobody's business down there. Simply improving the product on the field would go a long way in getting the house packed again. Better coaching gets us in the win column more often which means more fan support, better recruiting, deeper playoff runs and a football program that actually matches the university. SBU is an elite university. No reason we should have a trash football team with nobody in the stands every weekend. Especially when we play in a damn good conference. If we can't get the students to turn out (we can fix that, student section was packed a decade ago), we can at least get the community to turn out. With 3M people on LI, it's not too much of a stretch to get 12K (or 20K ideally, you know where I stand on a move to FBS) into the stands. Make it happen!

Calm down y'all.

Players we can get from anywhere. Getting students in the stands to watch the games is another matter though. In that case, going after more OOS kids and using them to help build a community where people don't just go home every weekend is a great initiative. SBU can pull out of state kids. I was one of them.

The Ivy League canceled its winter season. Are we really gonna do this?

We may not end up playing a season with numbers spiking right now, but it won't be due to the Ivy League.  I think there is a bit of Ivy fatigue with them making these decisions.

I agree with you. They're always going to err on the side of caution – kind of a holier-than-thou vibe coming from them. I just wonder with cases popping up seemingly everywhere and the COVID numbers talk resurfacing with the election behind us if universities will say it isn't worth the trouble.

It isn't. This winter is going to be terrible and I wouldn't expect any winter or spring sports. We'll lose a whole athletic year to Covid. So no spring football either. Even the FBS is going to be hard pressed to finish their season. Like half the games this weekend have been cancelled/postponed (not really, but it feels like it).

The Stony Brook student body is **** pathetic. The school somehow keeps accepting these pasty-skinned losers who know more about League of Legends and anime than they do a shotgun formation. These kids provide nothing of value! Please stop admitting these people that add nothing to the campus.

Stony Brook also needs to add more out of state and upstate students. Commuters are also a cancer. Stony Brook isn’t a “commuter school”, but it still has far too many commuters for me to be comfortable with.

Change has to start at the administration. The new president comes from Big 12 Texas? Well start implementing a Big 12 mentality already!!!

I'm with this 100%.

liberty wins in OT: https://www.espn.com/college-football/team/_/id/2335/liberty-flames

Not OT, in regular session. Won with 1 second on the clock. Good game

Crazy ending and the best game of the day thus far.

It's wild how Virginia Tech can beat up on UVA for fifteen years straight, but then when they're ranked highly lose to JMU, ODU, and now Liberty.
