If Corry leaves, it will be a disappointment. He showed some real flashes. Unlike our recent spate of transfers, this one would be disappointing but I can't blame him. His main reason to come to LI was probably Boals given the Ohio connection.

I have a few expectations for this hire- I'd prefer a local guy who will want to stay here. I think Pikiell really would have stayed here forever but its hard to turn down a Big 10 offer. He loved living here and raising his family locally. Priore, for all his warts, loves being in this area. Despite cost of living and whatnot, Long Island is still IMHO a great place to be. I want a guy with a good pedigree and who can recruit well.

If it were up to me, Speedy Claxton would be my #1 target. He knows NYC and Long Island, was a 1st round NBA draft pick, and seems to be an apt recruiter. He also lives in Dix Hills so you don't have to sell him on Long Island. I'll give Hofstra credit where its due- their team has come a long way with multiple solid recruiting classes.

Jay Young should also get a look but I get the sense that ship has sailed. Again, he's a guy that knows the area and really built the solid Stony Brook defenses that we knew and loved.

I don't love these firms for coaching searches to be honest- I think a comprehensive search by the administration would be sufficient.

Unfortunate but can't blame him- not a good feeling going onto a 3rd coach for sure. Also he's 22 which puts the clock on him. Obviously I'd love for him to stay but we have some solid players that can step in for him next year. Garcia can fill his void nicely. I think Jules Moor showed a lot of promise. The team won't be as good without him but I'm not sure if it will be a giant drop-off. Ideally if we can grab a good coach maybe he can grab some late recruits to fill the void.

Anyway I'm rooting for Akwasi- was a class act from Day 1 here. If he changes his mind and stays I'll be thrilled.

Getting a good coach will mitigate this loss though

Nagle has got to get this team turned around. I don't like ultimatums but some improvement this year is critical.

Honestly the Seawolves have a chance in the AE tournament- this game against UVM shows its doable.

However if Cornish plays poorly they will have no chance. He's really the X-factor on this team. He just has to limit his 3's- he's fun to watch but that crazy arc he puts on his 3s makes it a low percentage shot for him.

It’s indisputable that Spallina needs to be replaced ASAP. The only question is whether the AD will do his job and make it happen.

I assume you mean Nagle...but yes. This is an elite lacrosse job- he's got to get this team turned around ASAP. He's been here for several years and I have yet to see him have significant success with a non- Sowell recruited team.

That Hofstra game was ugly as heck but a nice win nonetheless- if we had lost that my patience would have been even less

This team could be really good this year. We've been just a few pieces away but a couple big JuCo transfers have me really optimistic.

It's always challening early in the year for us but its great to see the Seawolves off to a 2-1 start. Obviously the last game was a bit of a clunker but I'll take this start any day of the week.

On a side note, nice to see Daniel Zamora highlighted in the under the radar prospect section on ESPN. If he has a big role this year for the Mets, I'll be stoked as it will benefit my Mets as well as Stony Brook locally.

Ugly game to watch. The team had no flow- Vermont has much better team chemistry- they moved the ball extremely well and we were just chucking up horrible 3s for the most part. It's hard for us to win when Cornish is that bad. I hate badmouthing our players but there is a massive drop off from Cornish to McKenzie. I don't know why Ochefu isn't getting more minutes when Otchere is in foul trouble.

The biggest thing that concerns me is Olaniyi's dropoff this year. Some of it is related to Latimer taking an immediately big role but Elijah has not been as good as he was last year. Hopefully he turns it around soon. This team is super young and I knew there would be growing pains but we need to use February to round into form.

Good crowd though- still have a chance to get home court if we take care of business the rest of the way. In my opinion, finishing in the top 2 would be fine.

This may be one of the most complete teams we have had including our teams with Warney/Puriefoy.

Can't wait for Hofstra

Tough game but Brown is not a bad team by any stretch. FT shooting was reminiscent of the past

Play that bothered me most was when we were down by 1 and McKenzie took an awful shot as he drove to the hoop.

On the plus side, Ochefu has really taken a huge leap forward this year. Lattimer is going to be all conference sooner rather than later. Jules Moor has been a pleasant surprise. We have a really bright future but this year has the potential to be a good one.

Otchere is still a bit uncontrolled defensively. Olaniyi still looks rusty though. Hopefully both get back on track.

This team is really firing on all cylinders. Quinnipiac with a run to tighten the game but Stony Brook responds nicely. Lattimer is going to be an all-conference player sooner rather than later IMHO

Love watching this team

I am really impressed with what Shawn has done with basketball and the other scholarship sports. His decision to extend Priore middle of the season was bizarre and I don't really understand it. There is so much money thrown around college football at mediocre to bad college coaches (Exhibit A: Chris Ash at Rutgers; Exhibit B: Bobby Petrino at Louisville).

There are so many talented kids on this team and I'd love to see them take the next step. Our quarterback situation is going to be really interesting- if we can get a good FBS transfer (which should not be too tough honestly), that could be huge.

I'm a sucker so I'll keep out holding hope for this team to take that next step towards greatness. I'd love for football to take charge but I don't see it barring big changes in how this program does things.

These non DI games really are not enjoyable- sorry can't get too excited about these games.

Having had to sit through Farmingdale State and USMMA against Stony Brook was enough. At least a game like this will allow Boals to experiment with different rotations.

I've taken great pride in the strides taken by seniors such as Julius Wingate who I have been waiting for since his freshman year. It's also been a blast seeing Donny Liotine become a stud FCS player after being hardly looked at coming out of the Stony Brook School. Carbone has also shown he has been more than capable in many games- we have a lot of uncertainty at QB going into next year which is going to be really interesting.

I'm firmly on the Stony Brook bandwagon- I'm looking forward to this next game. Hopefully Carbone gets back on track. This is a winnable game IMHO- I do worry about our guys going all the way to Missouri as its going to be a long trip- the place is >2 hours away from St. Louis. If we win that we then have a trip to Utah in the cards!

To finish the earlier debate, being a fan of this team/players and being critical of coaching are not mutually exclusive.

Yeah I use the term PG flexibly- he will fill in for a graduating Cornish very nicely IMHO. He's built really well and from the limited film I have seen he is very athletic.
