Looks like the Seawolves have made offers to two more PGs (By my count, that's 5 for that position to date:

--Derrick Brooks (Florida)
--DeShaun Thrower (Michigan)

Thats total 5 point guards we have made offers to. Any idea who is the best of the 5?

13 season tickets! :) amazing

And yes agree attendance is the biggest issue. But we need at least 15k sell out few seasons before moving to FBS. Even if the minimum is 10k, that wont give us profit with additional cost at FBS level to sustain the program.

danger in rushing FBS http://ajerseyguy.com/?p=7396

We can learn a lot from keep studying what Umass is doing and not make the same mistakes. Playing far from campus to meet FBS attendance requirement is really hurting them.

New England in general not a college football followers. There are only two notable FBS in the region UConn and BC. Even they are not widely followed and not powerhouse in college football. We have to make sure we dont turn into Buffalo or Umass if ever decide to play FBS.

ODU on the other hand transitioned so quickly that its remarkable. But one thing they had on there side is that the area had no pro sports or college football. Now they are expanding their stadium to 30k capacity!

We need to wait and see what Delaware does. They have the support and facilities for FBS move but will they? Are they ready to trade from being FCS power to FBS mediocre?

Its gonna look gorgeous. Especially with new AE logo in SB colors on the new court. Can't wait.

quick question: does anyone know the procedure to host AE tourney?
I know scooby-doos are going to host again this year. Are they hosting next year too? When is the earliest we can host?

I don't think so. America East won't let that. If we do get an invite from A10 and our AD does accept it, I think we will be forced to move all our sports to A10. But Lacross will probably find a good home in CAA since A10 doesn't sponsor Lacross.

Seawolves Nation thinks SB basketball is eyeing another conference for their Basketball possibly the A10. I would love to see that but, how many schools are in 3 different div1 conferences, strange....

http://www.imaseawolf.com/2013/08/five-takeaways-from-the-2013-2014-mens-basketball-non-conference-schedule/

Moving ACC or AAC, as the author mentioned, is nothing but a pipe dream. May be in 20 years but I still doubt it. But A10 could be a real possibility in near future. They have lost top teams to New Big East and probably will lose two more as BE expands to 12. When A10 will look for replacements from lower conferences from Northeast, I am sure Stony Brook would be one of the top candidates. We are on par with the cream of CAA, MAAC and Partiot league.

Only question is whether Stony Brook would accept an invitation from A10, a conference that prioritizes only basketball, hurting Baseball and Lacross etc.

SBU Men's Basketball / Re: 2012-13 Ranking and Bracketology Thread
« on: August 15, 2013, 10:30:33 am »
As we learned sadly that all these ranking means nothing without AE championship which is the only road to NCAA tourney, but it did help us with a favorable match up in NIT where we won our first post season game against UMass.

here are the final rankings from last season.

RPI: 80
Sagarin: 57
Pomeroy: 55

Not planning to keep up with these rankings these season. The only thing matters are the three games in Albany in AE tourney. Lets go Seawolves.

I don't think its ranking number

its probably the preview number

They have Miami at 133!

I think we have two clear priorities for next recruiting:
1)a big defensive bruising center, who can rebound in high rate, protect the paint and bang with other teams big bodies.
2)a true playmaker who can dish out to our numerous wing players and to Warney. Someone to groom behind Tre.

Hammertime... When I say all sports to A10, I mean except football and lacrosse because A10 does not sponsor those two sports. Similar to what URI, Nova or Umass are doing. URI play all sports in A10 exxcept football in CAA. NOVA plays all sports in Big east except football in CAA. UMass plays all sports in A10, football in MAC and lacrosse in CAA.

I think we should stay put in AE for the time being and get some name recognition first by going to the dance few times. Then move to A10 for all sports except football and lacrosse in CAA.

For now AE is fine and probably we can increase our value like Davidson.

This sucks if it is true that UA moving to CAA and Hofstra is blocking us. The options ahead for us are:
1) stay as it is now...keep all sports in AE and football in CAA. AE gets weaker with UA leaving and may be finally we get to go to the dance
2) prepare to move for MAC as some suggested above. It's not impossible. But they are horrible in basketball. FBS Football is not much better either. Do we really want to follow Buffalo's footstep?
3) IMO, we should be happy with football in CAA. Keep improving our basketball and try to get an invite from Atlantic 10 for all sports. Put Lacross in CAA or ECAC. I think we can achieve this goal with hard work and dedication in next 5/6 years. A10 will most pribably lose SLU and Richmond to Big East and will be looking for new members. This scenario will gives us exciting top class CAA FCS football, excellent multi-bids A10 hoops, stable lacross CAA/ECAC competition and weak A10 baseball. I will take that.
