Stony Brook by 10. Receives its first NCAA MBB bid. Book it.
Is there a secondary market for tickets? I'm willing to overpay, but I can't find them anywhere. Are you willing to pay $ 300 each for one row up from the floor. section 111. I have 3 if interested!!
Unless he gets a huge offer he will finish his current contract. SB is not going to fire this guy and pay a buyout. Considering his resume and overall program results there is no way he goes anywhere, win or lose. Six 20 win seasons, two 25 win seasons with 4 regular season titles and 4 NIT bids for a north east mid major. The problem is that the NCAA tourney has made the regular season irrelevant. The mid majors play at the mercy of a gimmick conf tourney . Anytime a last place team can qualify for a national tourney, it's a gimmick. This works in creating excitement and attention for college basketball, but a gimmick none the less.I want to see them play on the first Thursday of the NCAA's, but a nice run in the NIT is not that bad either . Maybe make a run to the Garden and give Warney a ton of exposure. Either way the coach stays. If you look at it for what its worth he has done a great job with this program. Win on Saturday and this convo means nothing.
Dont give up on our Redshirt Freshman's. Campbell was a high recruit in his Junior year before his injury. Lets see what happens before passing judgement. We also have incoming Alomancy. He could be a purifoy replacement. This could very well go into OT Saturday morning and he who has the ball last wins. Scary game for both teams more so for us,
Certainly more so for us. Vermont's been there before, and if they don't get there this time, there's always next year. Aside from O'Day, they'll all be back. For us, if not this year, when?
Agreed..This is what it comes down to. Lets go Seawolves.
Gotta get over the hump
Some people think just because we're not playing UA this should be a cakewalk into the NCAA. NOT!!!!.. Vermont got stronger as the season got deeper and is peaking at the right time. They are to be feared and if SB doesnt play at 110%, we're screwed.. I said this last year about Vermont. They started the 2015 season on a low note only to get better as the season progressed because of their rebuilding year. Now in 2016, they're better than ever. I am very leary of these guys. KenPom has us at 80% to win and win by 8. I say it's more of a 50/50 and a draw!!!!!!
Who are these people and why have they not been put in straitjackets? When the line comes out, we ought to be favored, but it feels more like a coin flip.
Walker's swat made it to #2 on the SportsCenter Top 10. It was even better in person.

thanks for joining! and thanks for sharing. that looks like one helluva facility!
you may know, SB is working on a similar indoor facility. http://brook.land/2015/10/athletics-announces-5-million-pledge-towards-new-indoor-facility/
Speed has nothing to do with blocking. O lineman don't run.O lineman do run when they need to block downfield for a "run up the gut" play coach P is so famous for but, I really like this catch as I mentioned in my earlier post. He will be a instant help to the line!!!!!!
I agree with your thesis Checkmate. But we like to call Walker "The tasmanian Devil"I'm usually Pikiell's harshest critic, but I actually thought our Seawolves played great (besides the free-throw shooting). UMBC were hitting tough contested shots at a ridiculous pace. That happens sometimes. The key was that Warney was able to keep pace with them throughout. We still had our patented horrifying spacing on offense, players running into other players, lack of feeding the post, etc, but Warney, as usual, cleaned it all up and made it look better than it really was.
Seriously, it was UMBC's night. They should have won. But we won. That's a great sign.
The thing to worry about is that Albany, Vermont and UMBC all had back-to-back-to-back good-to-great shooting nights against us recently. But it really looks like they all made contested shots rather than it being the cause of a team-wide defensive breakdown. Bad luck, if you will.
Hopefully.
You're right with the shooting, particularly with the last two - Maine, which was also in there, was terrible shooting the ball. Vermont and UMBC couldn't miss. I thought UNH shot better than it did in its narrow loss here, but the percentages were bad - it was really just early on and then Leissner late.
The spacing on offense comes and goes. Sometimes we're moving it well; other times we really stagnate and rely on helter-skelter situations or our size advantage underneath. I really feel like the O has lacked flow since the Albany game here. I'll come back to it again - that Walker took it inside and took makeable shots rather than firing up jumpers was huge. Good things happen when you get into the middle of the defense. He was never out of control in transition as we've become accustomed to seeing. I hope Thrower understand his strengths and weaknesses as well. He's shown some good things out there the last few.
A buddy calls Walker our Lance Stephenson. I call him our Swaggy P. He's more defensive minded than both but you understand where we're coming from.
Quality post. Your opinion's always welcome.
has anyone been over to the great danes board? so much vitriol and so little class.link??
Vegas Odds:4-0 in my predictions!
Stony Brook favored by 22 against UMBC
Albany favored by 19 against Hartford
Vermont favored by 18 against Maine
New Hampshire by 9.5 against Binghamton
Predictions with the odds:
I'll take all the underdogs.
SB weathered the storm. For a while it did not look like UMBC was gonna miss. Good games from Walker and Woodhouse…I feel that Woodhouse is the key. If he can knock down the open three's it makes teams pay the price for doubling Warney. Nice help from the bench. Good D from Kam and a big three from Nyama. Now we need SB to hit 70% from the line for the next two games...
