SBUFan.. According to the NFL Pro Day calendar SB has its Pro Day on March 28th- at 830. Now, in true Priore fashion here's the really funny part. SB Football Practice start's on the 28th at 7:30!  Is there anyone running the calendar up there or are they just clueless? Looks like we are off to once again another great season of goofy "calls" and non focus! Gezzz.

all I can say is WOW !!

Typical Priore style.. 2 more years minimum, of coach P as HC, get used to it!

Where does the 2 years come from?  Does he have a guaranteed, no-cut contract?  Is there no buyout clause?   Does a SUNY school not fire a coach as an unwritten rule?

Sad, but had to post this.

What I get from this offer being out there is that they know someone else is leaving or at least strongly considering it.
Campbell????

I am a horse's ass if Campbell doesn't transfer

Like him or not, and reason for his dismissal aside, my view is that Fiore's regime was a major contributor to where the program has come.  He was a visionary and a vocal cheerleader for the University, that got SBU a lot of press.  For example, his touting the University during its College World Series run was superb, IMO, even if he was rambunctious and flamboyant (and some may even say, self-serving).  Heilbron seems much lower key and much less visible outside of the University.  This may have been needed initially, after the Fiore dismissal, but I think he needs to sell the brand more, and certainly become more visible externally.  I mean, except for the athletes, the donors and the AD fraternity, who even knows his name?

He definitely made a bold pick with Boals as MBB coach, but after 1 season, I think it was the right move and a good one.  If his main emphasis is the football team, however, then he needs to make a coaching change, since I think Priore is definitely not the way to go moving forward.

I gave it a Treading Water, although I would have stated the option as "hasn't helped the program, hasn't hurt the program much".

I like Heilbron and believe he is trying his hardest to raise money for athletics. We all knew that would be a tough task to accomplish, but he is trying very hard.. I dont like how he is not giving coach P the boot, considering SH claims to be a football first AD and wants to turn SB into a  powerhouse. First things first. Fire the HC and regroup..

"Albeit with mixed feelings, I have decided to not return to Stony Brook upon graduation in may and pursue a professional Basketball career. I wanna thank everybody that has helped me along the way and especially coach Pikiell for giving me the chance to play collegiate basketball, and coach boals who believed in me this year. Stony Brook will forever hold a special place in my heart and the friendships, memories and personal growth this place allowed me to have are irreplaceable and forever valued. Love you guys. 24."

We gonna miss him. He was going to get significant minutes in the wing/slasher G/F position. I hope Boals can find a Juco or transfer who play minutes and can provide experience and production right away to the rebuilding team.
Brutal.. Roland will be missed.. Boals will have a new team next season. I am sure he will be bringing in a Juco transfer.. Hopefully he finds a Center who can rebound and not afraid to shoot the ball.

Just heard from our son that in another brilliant move Priore changed the Spring Game that was recently posted. We have 6 different family members flying in and now they are having to change the flights and re-book the hotel, and the cost will be not cheap for these changes!   Got a bunch of pissed off relatives. Thanks Chuck for starting the season off on a great foot!  Man its just amazing how much he does not give a rats ass!

Sorry NYstateofmind.. It boggles my brain how this man still has a job as HC at SB.. I wish i were a multimillionaire.  i would buy him out in a heartbeat!

I know it's only been only two or three years for the women's bb coach, but when does she get the hook for finishing 2nd to last in the worst conference in women's bb?

Also, where all these championships that AD promised the Stony Brook family?

You're being too hard on the AD, coaches, players, janitors, cooks, security, AE conference,.... Lax.. Some people on here get insulted if you have an opinion. What you need to do is say that SB athletics is doing great!, we're improving and getting better every year!! WBB is doing great!!!!!!!! Pat the coaches on the back and say, "tomorrow is another day". Then give them a safe space to sit and talk. Oh, the thousands of dollars that you donate to SB athletics, who cares. Nobody really cares about that and they dont need your money anyways..I'm finished ranting.

Mitchell with his typical 0 points and 2 fouls in the first half.
We dont have to worry about hearing Mitchell name anymore. Good riddance...

Hating on a kid who did nothing but rep Stonybrook with class and dignity for 4 plus years is what I expect from Hammer and Lax! Nothing new there. I wonder if you guys have kids? If so your setting a great example for them.IMO

This was an awesome experience for Kam and he learned some very valuable lessons while on the Island! Most of them are what a great community (most) of the SBU people are. Also there are always gonna be haters in life. It's been real. Kam will do great things in life because he learned how to ignore the negative and just work on the positive! Some of you guys on here could learn a few things from him it seems!

Forever a Stonybrook fan! I'm out!
KTM
Kam, I apologize on behalf of a few fans who call our own players good riddance and garbage. I thank you for choosing to represent SB and giving your 110%. Best of luck with future endeavor. I wish nothing but the best to each SB student athlete. Don't let haters bring you down. #GoSeawolves

Dont apologize for me. I am a big boy.. I dont know about you but I want SB athletics to grow and be a winning program. This is why i attend sporting events. To watch teams win, not lose. Being vocal and voicing your own opinion is what we do on forums.. Maybe some fans shouldn't be on forums if they only want to hear the good all the time..

Dont feel bad for Kam, Petras or any other player on the team, because most of them get their education for free for playing a sport.. Did you get a free ride at your school???? Athletes are held to a higher standard because of all the free perks they get from schools for playing a sport, and because of that, coaches are expected to win games, not lose games and pat the athletes on the back for not performing well. This is the society we are in today when it comes to colleges and sports. And i like it...

With that said. I would give my shirt off my back for any athlete at SB and help them anyway i can if called upon. And i do with donations and ticket sales.. I give back to SB not as an Alumni, but as a fan!

Why isn't SB hosting this game. And why aren't they playing in the CIT. If UMBC made it in SB most certainly should have. I feel like SB is the red headed step child!

It seems high major bad teams stopped playing in the CBI.
Because it's an embarrassment to the team. CBI is the least recognized of all the post season tournaments..

SBU women getting  run over by Florida . Not even close at this point.

The gators play very aggressive style of lacrosse. Constantly attacking the net.. SB should do the same

Ochefu should be an instant contributor next year IMHO- he was a starter on a stacked HS squad so he's played with the best. I can't wait to see him after an offseason of working out at the college level. I'd like to see him at center- he's a bit undersized in the big picture but it will be fine in the America East. Corry Long looks like he has "it"- he's confident and not afraid to take a big shot. Elijah Olaniyi is an athletic freak- he's got ridiculous bounce and was under-recruited. He just dropped 40 points not too long ago. I can't judge McKenzie because I haven't followed him closely enough with him out of the region.

Andrew Garcia is a big wildcard- he's athletically quite gifted and definitely has the college build. I haven't seen enough film on him but people in the program raved about him.

What I envision next year is an uptempo athletic offense that will thrive in the transition game. The personnel weren't there this year to be honest to fully utilize that system that Boals will implement- we will see a lot more running and scoring in transition with the team speed we will have next year.

C- Ochefu/Petras/Campbell
F- Garcia/Sturdivant/Saintel
F- Yeboah/Nyama/Sekunda
G- Olaniyi/Long
G- Almonacy/Iroegbu/McKenzie? [completely up in the air]

This is a talented roster with tons of top tier athletes. I would love to get a JuCo depth big man that fits the mold of a Dallis Joyner from a few years back to provide some tough rebounding and depth. I also wish I had more clarity at our backcourt. I think Olaniyi and Long will be fun to watch but neither were asked to distribute the ball in college. I'm still not sold on Iroegbu being anything more than depth- his shooting is horribly inconsistent and he doesn't move the ball.

Sturdivant is going to need to elevate his game- he just flat out disappeared at the end of the year unfortunately. He's got talent and plays hard but will need to spend the offseason figuring out what happened. I doubt everybody will be back and there may be some redshirts.

Overall, I'm super excited to see the 2017-2018 version of the team. I think it's going to be the most athletic team in the conference by a fair margin. Hopefully we can turn that athletic skill set into lots of wins. I think the team is going to be a lot of fun to watch for sure.

Good stuff MD. I disagree with you on Petras being our C though. If it were up to me I would make Petras a Wolfie mascot. He is that bad. I would start Campbell over petras. not so much for campbell offensive skill but more for his defense..

Almonacy doesnt have the size, to compete with div I players. He is a great kid but but I think he is to small to compete in this league.
