SBU Men's Basketball / Re: 2014-15 Stony Brook basketball season

I'm going to be optimistic and say it's easy to beat a team twice in a season, the third time is a lot tougher. I think we've experienced this ourselves in previous seasons so may the odds be in our favor.

Who's excited? I'm excited! Looking for a good showing against a good Cincinnati team! A 10 point loss with a good performance is what I'd at least like to see. Great test for a team that's still finding its identity! Go Seawolves!

I was saddened to see there were no Alley-oops, what happened to the days of 'Ole?

I felt the same exact way Eddie. We really still can't be Hofstra, a program that's recovering from losing its entire team essentially? I feel like the caliber of the program has improved since I've been following in 2007 but it really stopped at slightly less than mediocre when it comes to nonconference play and tourney play. I'm so frustrated!

I also wanted to note that last years Georgia squad defeated Vermont in the first round of the NIT 63-56.

That's my mistake it is on the ESPN SEC Network. I guess that's the SEC network but you can access it from watchespn.com if you have that channel in your lineup.

Hey guys! Game 2 tomorrow! After a frightening and thrilling home opener the Seawolves travel to Athens Georgia take on the 0-1 Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia lost their first match up to Georgia Tech 80-73. Georgia was predicted to be 5th out of 14 in the SEC. This will be another test for the young Seawolves. Hopefully the Seawolves shake off the home opener nerves as this is just the first of many tough road tests. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.

Unfortunately I can't make the D.C. watch party! If you're interested in going the information is here!

Go Seawolves!

Every recent interview I've heard with Pikell says everyone is healthy and ready to go except minor injuries. The way it sounded was it was as if tomorrow were the championship game everyone could play.

If there are any Columbia fans listening you're more than welcome to come out to the Brook! Come to the premier of basketball at the IFCU arena and make it a fantastic gameday experience!

The game is only 5 days away and it's about time we start a thread about it! I know I'm excited to see the freshman play as well as the new, improved, and healthy Jameel Warney and Carson Puriefoy. Additionally its the premier of Stony Brook Basketball at IFCU Arena! Unfortunately I'll be in West Virginia during the game but Go Seawolves!

I wasn't sure what thread to put this in but I saw that North Dakota State had 4 votes in the AP top 25 this week.

Looks like the coaches felt differently then the media. Stony Brook picked first by 6 coaches in the preseason poll!

Well that was enough to get me excited. If the offense can maintain possession for a decent amount of time I think we can keep this game close. As we all know with our offense this is a huge IF. I think Will Tye will be key to converting 3rd downs if we choose to use him. If Bednarski can be consistent, mixing the run game with short passes will help us control the ball.

Also should an upset occur it would not be good for the CAA.

A win is a win but I don't feel great celebrating this one. Lots of work to be done before New Hampshire next week.
