Khari Clark came up big again, and the women just keep on rolling.  Another double digit victory!

Two more things I think are worth noting:
-- Marla King finished with a double-double (she sometimes gets lost among all the other great performers on this team).  But, she always seems to play a key role.
-- Janay Brantley (only a freshman) had a great stat line (8 pts, 3 reb, 4 ast, 2 blks) in 26 min.  Coach seems to be calling on her more and more as the season goes on.  She should be a stalwart for next season.

Yes, it was on SNY and it was dicey for 3 and a half quarters.  But GiGi and Keenan got hot and resulted in another tough conference win on the road. They're now the only team to be undefeated in the CAA, and continue to be fun to watch.

I just checked the TV schedule for today on my cable box, and it indicates that the 2:00 PM game vs. Delaware is on SNY at 2:00 PM.  But, the SBU Athletic site says only on FLO Sports.  Does anyone know the scoop?

...And they did just that!  It was a tight game most of the way through, and they played from behind much of the time.  But, when it came to crunch time GiGi was incredible--a career high 30 points!

This is one of those examples of a really good team finding a way to win whenthey weren't at their best.  We let them hang around WAY too long!!  But, I guess a win is a win, and they're still the conference leader.

Coach Langford and this year's WBB team once again showed their mettle in the outstanding dominant performance against Cornell.  Things look great right now for the conference expectations--anything can happen.  But Coach has certainly earned our trust.

What concerns me right now is the recruiting situation, and how to keep the fans coming.  Certainly, Coach Langford has shown she can recruit really well, especially in the transfer market (e.g. Zaida Gonzalez, Victoria Keenan, Shamarla King, Sherese Pittman and Khari Clark).  The problem is that, after this season, we lose most of them to graduation--and Gigi Gonzales as well.  That seems like a hell of a hill to climb.

Coach seems to be trying to attract local talent, as well (keeps local interest alive).  But Merono (Baldwin) and Ware (Queens) are the only ones on the roster I'm aware of.  Sadie Shores is the only commit for 2024 that I know about, and she's from Virginia.  I sure wish someone would put her on to Rose Azmouda- Sr. Guard (Half Hollow Hills East) and Jasmine McKay- Jr. Guard (North Babylon).

Just watched the WBB team beat Iona on the road by 22 points, after being down by six at the half.  They are truly fun to watch, and in large part due to the excellent coaching and recruiting of Ashley Langford.  She is a master at making adjustments at halftime.  I just read that Coach Langford has just won her 50th game as a HC, supposedly the fastest to ever do that.  Can that be correct?

This was improperly located in the 2022-2023 topic before this one was opened.  So, I reposted it here.

Thanks escasado.  I hope this will lead to a better appreciation for and more interest in the WBB.

To Amend my last post, I also believe that the WBB team deserves it's own Topic ite (as with WLAX).

While I truly appreciate and love to watch the WLAX team and their coach, I think it's a real shame that this forum seems to unexplainably ignore the WBB team.  They are truly outstanding, as is their coach Ashley Langford.  They are truly a joy to watch, and just beat Iona by 22 points on the road, after being down by 6 at the half!!  Before today's game they were ranked #18 among mid-majors.  I think theydeserve our attention and support!

No AC or noll will have to rely on young guards not good especially since college basketball has gotten much older. Gonna be growing pains for sure but 30 threes is not a recipe for sustained success especially since geno is no offensive genius.

What happened to Aaron Clarke?????

My understanding from the discussions during the events in the last couple of weeks is that Clarke has a nagging back injury, which may set him back a couple of weeks.  He should be back relatively soon.

However, Sabry Philip is apparently out for the season, along with Noll.  Not a good beginning.

I am thoroughly confused and incredulous re: the recent announcement for SNY broadcasts of SBU MBB and WBB games this season.  I'm a season ticket holder and I was really pleased with the thought that when the teams weren't at home, I wouldn't have to rely on FloSports to watch them.  But, boy was I wrong!!

Turns out that all the games on SNY are home games!  This strikes me as both useless and counterproductive.  The whole idea should be to put more fans in the arena when the teams are home, but keep the focus and interest on the team when the fans can't attend in person.  This arrangement results in just the reverse--SHEESH!!!
