Looking at the video, he's not afraid to run. I think we can win with him in there. Then Essington will be 100% for next week.

Based on Priore's and Negron's comments in the article, I think the QB situation will be okay.

Sweet new helmets. There's something very catchy about bright red.

I think the team would be p*ssed at having lost at Liberty the way they did, and will take it out on the Wildcats. That, and being well-rested and having Gush back, bodes well for a win.

OK, time to contemplate the upcoming game. Villanova's coach said he wishes they had a bye this coming weekend because they're pretty banged up and could use one. On top of their banged up list is their star defensive end, who won't play. SB is well rested. Any word if Gush may be available?

Far bigger setback for SB sports than was football's loss to Liberty.  The Liberty loss was only a disappointment because of how good football played all season long. There's no excusing this loss to Sacred Heart. Now I expect the Connecticut game to be very ugly.

We need to beat the Sacred Hearts of the NCAA if SB is to make the program to the "next level." Until these types of games become routine wins, we haven't yet turned the corner.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised to see Brenton taking a three and making spin move to the basket. I said last year the team can't afford to have a non-shooting guard or forward on the team whom the opposition can back off from and plus up on someone else. Brenton needs to keep the other team honest, and he's def. doing that more.

Jag, you make a good point about 8-2 when you back out the win over Div II Pace. I'm not sure how many of SB's at-large competitors also have a DII win, but my guess is not many. The win over Army is a positive, but not a huge positive...they're near the bottom of FBS teams. If I were a betting man, I'd give 60/40 odds against an at-large at this point.

Really not a whole lot to say about the game. As good as Essington has been all season, he was just as bad today. The O line seemed to provide reasonable protection, so it was all on Kyle.  Can't really blame Maysonet for just being "average" today. Of course we hope for the at-large bid and they may get it, but if they don't get, then I couldn't honestly say they were robbed after this game.

SBU Men's Basketball / Re: 2012/13: Game 1 - SBU @ Marist - Season Opener

Poor FG percentage, but the same for Marist so it worked out. Good to see SB get to the line a lot. I think Pikiell was generous when he called Marist a "very good" team...they had a losing record last year in a weak conference...so I was hoping for better than a three-point victory. A lot more baskeball to play.

Weather at game time is supposed to be in the 60s and sunny. Fabulous. If SB can pull off the win in Lynchburg (a very tough place to win), especially by a couple of touchdowns or more, I'll be convinced we can seriously aim for the national championship game. And that would be good rep for the BS Conference, even though we're departing.

Thanks e- you made my day

Thanks for the hospitality SlyFox. I live near Richmond and may make it out that way. I'm disappointed the game isn't televised at least on the CBSSports Network or MASN as it was the last two seasons.

Off topic just a bit-- one of the most frustrating things about football are refs who think people pay to watch them blow their whistles. It's FOOTBALL for crying out loud. If it's not a blatant and obvious foul, let the players play. It's far worse in basketball, but that's a whole other discussion...
