More highlights from the best commit for SB over the last few years!

Bold statement!!! Let's see if he can crack the lineup in 2019 before we declare him the best commit for SB over the last few years.....

The laxpower post is on the money. Nagle has zero recruiting power on Long Island. LI kids know you do not get treated very well as a player on a Stonybrook squad with Nagle at the helm.  Being so close to the huge LI  talent pool works against Nagle. The kids know the environment he and Gibson have created. Most top level LI players do not even consider Stony brook. They all have heard the nightmare stories.

No other D1 program had 2 full days of running before the final game of the season. He just doesn't know what else to do or how to develop his talent on any level. He is so old school and as someone else said, the game has past him bye. He loses more recruiting ability each year. After the experience the upstate kids have had over the last few years, that talent pool has completely dried up as well.

He has talented Canadians who all seem to receive full or near full scholarships to attend. This is just not the way to sustain a talented team at the D1 level.

It is a shame because this team (other than at the X) has talent and can compete. They can be developed into
an excellent team. It will never happen with Nagle as the coach. He has proven time and time again he can't get the job done and he needs to go. This team needs a younger more progressive thinking coach that these talented young men want to play for. It would make all the difference in the world for these guys. They deserve better.

Canít argue with this on laxpower:

Although the Team got better after an embarrassing start (14 - 2 loss to Hofstra) another very disappointing year for SBU. It's been 6 years since SBU Made the NCAAs. Hard to believe with the crazy amount of Local Talent that this team is so bad. It's even more apparent considering what Spallina has done on the girls side. I've talk to many of his players and they just don't like playing for Nagle. I think it's time for a change. The Facilities and Value (1/2 the price of most schools) at SBU are awesome. Get the right coach and there is no question that they can do what Albany and the woman's team have done.

I totally agree. This is how I always felt about coach P  in football. Get the right coach and SB could be another James Madison.

With one more season left on coach P contract, and no extension was offered, its a do or die season for him. This team will either surprise us to the upside or be a bust. But I'll save the ranting for the football thread, not lax..

is it fair to say we are starting to turn around?  good win against fairfield, a near miss against #9 UVa (i actually thought we didnt play well that game), and a gutsy road win at BC to go 1-0 in the AE.  hofstra was an obvious bottom.  it's two wins in the last three games and the defense put up some respectable #s today.  it's starting to look like the only loss we shouldnt have lost is SHU. GO SB

Imagine what they might accomplish if they had a coaching staff they wanted to play for? If they were actually enjoying playing the game and not wishing for April 28th while hoping they don't make the playoffs.

Throwing in my .02 here since I played for Nagle (& Gibson). Players respect Gibson and enjoy playing for him... not so much the case for Nagle.  No one enjoys playing for that guy as he never once held himself accountable or took any responsibility (I can't imagine all the blame he is dishing out this week at practice). All former players I have spoken with over the last few days are embarrassed by the current state of the program and want him gone.

Not sure about the 'Players respect Gibson and enjoy playing for him' part.  That is NOT the case on this current team.

Triathlete has it correct, I believe any player on this roster (or any recent roster) would love to meet him in a dark alley.  Not a single name on the roster enjoys playing for Gibson.

last 4 years 27th,5th,5th,16th in the country in scoring. I believe coach Gibson was there for that.

Yes, he had big offensive production numbers with Rogers, Eastwood, Schultz, Rooney Corpolongo and Bitzer.
Tell me what OC would not have huge numbers with that talent pool on the offensive end ???? Yet they never won the America East with those guys. How come???

A good coach adjusts and gets the most out of his players even if he does not have the level of talent he has had in the past. Don't cry about it and not do your job! Adjust your game plan with an offense that best suits the talent pool.

To the poster who mentioned lifeless players with the answer being 6:00 am workouts. You are not understanding what you are seeing out there. These kids run more miles than the cross country team. They are all banged up, washed out, and completely demoralized. Beating a dead horse never accomplishes much!

5 total SOG isnt good.  especially when hofstra had 6 in the first quarter.  we had zero in the first and fourth.

for shots, yanes/aldermann/tierney totalled 31.  we got off 20.

we had three opportunities on EMO 6v4, which must be unprecedented.  we only capitalized one.  we were otherwise 2/12 EMO.

also one faceoff we won because the ball went out of bounds.  two others i think we won on a technical foul.

otherwise, clearing was good, TOs were low.  we made some nice saves.  is this the year we dont make the AE tourney?

You can't take shots without possessing the ball. We have started every game this season down 3 or 4.  Defense never getting a breather. Offense never finding it's rhythm. The coaches are preaching faceoffs don't matter but the numbers say otherwise...

Heard the OC (Gibson) refused to coach last night and said nothing while his players were looking to him for guidance. That goes a long way to explain 2/12 on the EMO. As a coach, I have heard Gibson is so demoralizing and demeaning that I would guess he has  ruined more talented players than he has ever developed.

If I refused to do my job, I would get fired. I do not know why this situation warrants a different outcome.
Nagle, to his credit continued to coach and tried to be a positive presence on the field.

At the very least, the AD needs to look at the OC situation here.
