lost at the end to #10 denver, 8-7 at home.
Brutal. Maybe they should unpin the Syracuse win from the team twitter home page at this point. That win feels like ancient history. Scheduling 3 nationally ranked opponents in a 6 day span (two road contests) probably wasn’t the brightest idea either.  Regardless, this is a senior heavy team that isn’t walking the walk. All focus is once again on the conference.  A seed in the tourney is out of the question.

Terrible loss to Hopkins after beating Cuse.  Team didn’t show up with the same intensity and this is what happens. This essentially negates the Cuse win on a number of levels.  Back to getting no respect from the committee.

Didn’t appreciate  the tone of some of quotes from Cuse coach Trainor in one of these articles.  Essentially gave no credit to our program, players or Masera’s clutch plays down the stretch. Meanwhile, The officials tried to help Cuse any way they could in this one. To the contrary, Spallina was nothing but complimentary of their coach, program and even specific players on Cuse in the teams post game presser. Further, Spallina’s daughter (top recruit in her class) is going to Cuse. Perhaps show  some mutual respect to an equal opponent even in defeat. Bad look.

Another noteworthy win today vs. a power conference team VATech to avoid a series sweep. I’m not an educated fan of this program, but these are wins that should be celebrated and Senk is a hall of fame coach. I dunno what lofty expectations some have each year for a mid-major northeast school (that still doesn’t have permanent lights on the field, which is ridiculous) but so far they are looking like a team that should be able to compete for a conference title this year.  Time will tell.

Great win today but how have they not installed lights yet?? Every town field in Brookhaven has permanent lights.
The 2022 conference title debacle we forfeited was because of a rain delay and not having adequate lights to finish the game that night. The AE conference commissioner called the game. I know there was a significant anonymous gift match made to help revamp both baseball and softball facilities with lights.  However, I believe it stalled because the school was unable to raise enough donations to match the anonymous gift and make it happen.  Perhaps it’s still in the works but others on here may have more insight. on that.

Any “NIL” money going to any of these players from the 1957 club?  Baseballl, womens BB and the women's lacrosse players probably deserve a piece of that pie more than any. As flawed as the NIL concept is,  I certainly hope those funds are being allocated to the programs that deserve it.

ILWomen's DI Preseason All-Americans: Eight Programs Represented on First Team
https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/ilwomen-s-di-preseason-all-americans-eight-programs-represented-on-first-team/62528

Second Team
A/M-Ellie Masera, Sr., Stony Brook

Third Team
D-Clare Levy, Sr., Stony Brook

Honorable Mention
A-Kailyn Hart, Gr., Stony Brook

These preseason accolades mean nothing. More disrespect in my opinion. Levy and Masera should be first teamers.    Team should have a chip on its shoulder.  But is this the year they finally break through? Final Four? Deep and loaded roster.  Biggest question mark is goalkeeper.

As always, hoping this is the year this program finally makes the final four.  As for the schedule, it appears we have problems with getting other top-ten programs who’ll agree to play us. After Denver/Syracuse (which are scheduled on a Monday and Tuesday, why?) the strength of schedule falls off dramatically on paper. This never helps come tourney time and seeding.  I see this team as having to go undefeated in order to to even sniff a potential seed in the top 8. We shall see how it all unfolds.

“When we met yesterday … I told him we were making a change,” Heilbron said in an interview with The Statesman.

Heilbron confirmed that Priore has not been fully terminated from Stony Brook Athletics, but he is being reassigned to a different position within the organization. The two parties are yet to agree on a determined role, but are in the process of figuring that out.

“I didn’t fire Chuck, we’ve simply made a change in leadership,” Heilbron said. “We’re working through the logistics of what all of that looks like. When Chuck and I met, I told him we were making a change, and he has the right to do due diligence on his end, as do we.”

Being a union employee, Priore’s contract makes things difficult for the department to cut ties entirely. His most-recent extension specifies a $675,000 buyout if he is fired after year one, which represents a likely deterrent for the University to terminate him entirely.

“As a state employee, as a member of the union, he has rights that make this an interesting situation,” Heilbron said. “So I want to make sure that he’s able to do that, but we are terming it as a change in leadership of the football program.”

” I didn’t Fire Chuck, we’ve simply made a change in leadership”.??  Another convoluted, unnecessary statement putting a pathetic spin on this. I dunno if this was scripted by someone else for some legal reason but the fiddly choice of words here reeks of weakness.  Just simply state, “we are making a change at head coach”.  Period.

It needed to happen. Priore had a long tenure here but this has been 5 years trending in the wrong direction and this season was just embarrassing.

What a catastrophe. This program has been sinking for the last 5 years and has finally bottomed out. Changes are needed but will any be made? That is the million dollar question. We shall see.

The program needs an enema. Cleanse (clean house) and start fresh.

I’m sure her older brothers had some influence here as well.  Here is to hoping things change between now and then and she opts to become a Seawolf. It would be an epic get for Coach Spallina and the program.

newsworthy- somewhat: https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/ilwomen-s-no-1-2025-alexa-spallina-makes-her-college-choice/62102
Well, that sucks for the SB women’s program. It would’ve been cool to see her stay home and play for Dad but this isn’t surprising at all.
