Yeah. I was hoping for a close game. It’s the opposite. Alabama is too good for Charleston.

I'm really confused about the tournament arrangements for WBB.  Based upon what I see, the WNIT has Monmouth listed as an automatic qualifier and Charleston as an at-large qualifier.  Remember who was the regular season champ (and had the best record)-SBU!?!?  So, how come SBU ends up in the WBIT (it's 1st year, by the way)?

The WBIT is more prestigious than the WNIT, it seems, as the BIT bracket is filled first and conference champs get an auto-bid

Thanks for this. It was confusing at first.

Good example of Emotional roller coaster and stages of grief.

If we had to lose to someone clearly it was not this other Long Island team. Disgusting! Anyone else and losing to a team we owned.

Read this interesting article. We don’t get much student support anyway. May be being on National TV on weeknights wouldn’t be so bad? MACtion baby

A10 should just wait a couple of years before adding more. They will likely lose another team or two to Big East.

UMass is headed from the A-10 to the MAC for all sports (except hockey I'm guessing/I hope). That drops the A-10 to 14 teams. You wonder if they're content there or if they're still looking at adding a couple. There are a lot of sub-FBS/non-football schools in that conference, and we have a few attractive schools who fit that mold in our conference including, well, us . Yeah, but really, not happening.

Man, even the CAA (19) is ranked higher than the MAC (24) in KenPom conferences right now.

UMass basketball enthusiasts are not pleased. In the KenPom ratings, you can list off seven A-10 schools before you reach Akron at #100, and another three A-10s before reaching a second MAC team. Does Frank Martin skip town? Can they recruit at the same level? I dunno. I'm skeptical.

Here's a good rundown of what it all means for the program. All you need to know is that UMass Lowell is in a better basketball conference than UMass. On Saturday, they had their best crowd in years .... YEARS (7,000+) ... and this news broke two days later. Brutal.

Delaware and UMass together to MAC would have been a more logical addition to MAC. Delaware must be regretting now for making the move too early to a far flung CUSA.

So now that MAC is sitting on 13, and logic says that they will add another one, will the 14th team come from northeast? Does this open the door for Stony Brook to FBS? I say our AD should at least have a talk with MAC. In Buffalo and UMass, there are peer schools in proximity in place. I would even root for all SUNY 4 centers to be in MAC ;D!!

Differences of opinion is all good. Debates are what makes message board fun. I too was anti-Priore and am anti-SH, and sad at the current direction of our athletics.

But it gets tiring listening same political agenda over and over on this board… woke, liberals, progressives, swamp… if I want to read these BS I can just go to foxnews website.

I agree because by debating we see other views by other people. It would be pretty boring if we all agreed with each other

Good on Delaware to seize an opportunity, but that conference is such a hodgepodge of teams. When I think CUSA, I think Memphis, Tulane, Southern Miss, UCF, those types, but they're all gone. Now you have everybody from New Mexico to Delaware, with a significant lean south. If they were to double-dip in the CAA, Towson would make some sense. We would stick out like a sore thumb, much like NMSU. But with a built-in schedule, TV money and a pathway to a bowl, I'm sure most ADs would choose that over being independent.

UMass people are convinced that that's the next move for the CUSA. Also seems Tarleton is in the running. It's hard to just start up rivalries with these obscure schools though. Imagine Sam Houston or Jacksonville State coming into our building and that doing much for anybody? At least we had some history with some CAA schools in football where it felt natural to play them in other sports too.

May be UMass and Stony Brook together to MAC. Another option!

Best and logical thing that should happen now is just split the CAA into two conferences.

CAA north as a new conference would have the following:

Northeastern
Stony Brook
Hofstra
Monmouth
Drexel
Towson

That’s a solid core.

Send some feelers out:
Albany (I think they would prefer this lineup to AE)
Fairfield (MAAC or CAA north?!)
Quinnipiac (MAAC or CAA north?!)
W&M (CAA south or SoCon or PL or CAA north?!)

For football
Stony Brook
Monmouth
Towson
Albany
W&M
Richmond*
Villanova*
Fordham*

I have always dreamed of us playing in A10. But seems like that will remain a pipe dream.

May be we can follow Delaware to CUSA, or Buffalo can help us get into MAC. While most teams in these two leagues don’t excite me, perhaps moving to FBS will also be good for basketball. Time to use our location and AAU membership to use.

Looks like all the good FCS teams from northeast/mid-Atlantic region joining FBS. JMU, Delaware. I’m guessing CAA’s play is now to invite Albany or Fairfield for all sports. Will they reciprocate the interest to a depleted CAA? Especially if rumored Charleston to A10 come true.

I am going to keep going back to JMU tree. They know how to hire successfully. I like Mike Shanahan who is the current JMU OC and that last name doesn’t hurt (even though no connection).

What’s great news. First time I’m excited since 2017 playoffs.

Here’s what I want: find out who JMU interviewed in 2019 before hiring Cignetti. Pick one of the those who didn’t make the cut at JMU. I bet any of those would be better than whoever we hire.

A10 with only 1 team in the tourney! Their demise is the most puzzling one for me.
