Our in-state rival Albany falls to Elon 0-6. :o
-
14-0 so far!!
-
This is looking really good so far. We're running it well and wearing the W&M defense down. Carbone is throwing the ball down the field for significant yardage (did I really just say that??), and the defense is getting stops. Holding W&M to a missed FG on that drive off the fumble was a huge stop. Very pleased with how we're playing so far. Being up 14-0 on the road to a team we've never beat? Awesome stuff. I think if we can hold on to this W, the hype train will definitely start building for us now that Albany lost today.
Carbone is 8/10 for 90 yards so far. Fantastic.

ps
south florida is 5-0 and just blew up ECU on the road.
delaware gave a solid game to a visiting JMU.

I can't believe what's happening right now.....
-
Suddenly they have all the momentum and we look scared. Only leading by 3.
-
Horrible throw by McKee.
-
We just don't wanna this game... seems like.... smh

We won, but we did everything we possibly could to throw that game away. Coach P should have the guys run until they puke on Monday. That was unacceptable there at the end. We gave them every opportunity to win the game. Late hits, personal fouls, pure ugliness.
I can appreciate the guys having some fight in them. I love that to a degree, but what we saw there at the end of the game was unacceptable. We got out of there with a W on a technicality. If W&M doesn't jump off-side, at the end, they spike the ball, kick a FG, and we go to OT and lord knows what happens then. We played well until the 4th and then completely fell apart...
I'm glad we escaped with the W though. Welcome to the top 25 guys! 4-1. This one was huge.
-
Well we got the win. Barely. 4th quarter was a race of who can make dumbest play
-
OMG! Victory! SBU is now 4-1, 3-0 in the CAA!!! First time ever we start 3-0 CAA!!!!!!
Great job boys!!! Held at the end
EDIT: Fact checked myself. We been 3-0 in the CAA before...
-
We won in spite of ourselves . Ugly 4th quarter too many stupid mistakes . Anyway we are 4-1 only loss is to a Top 20 FBS team . On to next week at home thank God.
-
Agree with the sentiments on what looked like a bunch of Pop Warner kids (and coaching) late in the fourth quarter. 11 and 17 made some really bonehead mistakes and 62 why even have to that within the last minute? Yeah- running them on Monday would not be a bad idea might let them think a bit on what you need to do to secure a win with much better MENTAL toughness. thankfully a poor play on the WM OL and the college rule helped secure the game. 3-0 is very good but seriously WOW! A tale of two halfs.
-
I guess I'm lucky I didn't catch the fourth quarter. It doesn't sound good from the posts...

I might have actually smashed my computer had we lost.... thank goodness we didn't and managed to sneak out of there with a win .

#25 LSU Loses @ Home to Troy.... WOW
-
after going up 21-0, W&M marched down on us for every drive. the penalty-ridden second half was ugly. though i didnt see the very end (laptop died) so any summaries would be great...
i did predict 24-17 so ill say i was close!
haggart and mcginty are becoming my favorite players.
yes, we almost blew a big lead. yes, we've beat three of the bottom teams in the CAA. regardless, first place is nice.

Fumbles and penalties almost cost SB this game. 100 yards penalties will give you the big L playing anybody.. They played great until the 4th Q, then all hell broke lose.. Tales of 2 different teams at the start of the 2nd half.

I really doubt that's going to happen they will instead deal with each of the guilty parties in a way that they will remember and understand

In high school they do that, but that it really doesnt correct the underlying issue. The coaches have to carefully review the game and work one on one with the guilty parties involved. Not easy, but thats better than making the entire team suffer because of a handful of players causing most of the penalties.. Paris, having 2 false starts penalty calls is a rarity. Happens to the best of them.. Hitting a player out of bounds, unnecessary roughness, targeting are totally uncalled for and those kids should be spoken to one on one and possibly be disciplined..
SB won this game and now it's time to move on to Delaware. Hopefully the coaches can correct all these bad penalties..

2nd half adjustments very poor from the staff & a lot of dropped balls from the WR in this game. The D is over aggressive & they half to use some level of intelligence in these game . They over pursue at times & teams are taking advantage of this.
The D is out of controll at times ; especially in key opportunities... The staff needs to do a better job of containing this or SBU will suffer in key upcoming games.
W&M fans are very nice & they truey have a really nice stadium & town.

Haha, no they don't.
High schools often do this because it forces accountability from the players. You messing up put the entire team into a bad situation which is exactly what happened on Saturday. The whole team should be running. That'll teach them not to pull the same nonsense they tried on Saturday again. They're much more likely to remain in line if it's other players holding them accountable for their actions. Team game, team consequences. SBU already plays an old school brand of football. I wouldn't put it past Coach P at all to dish out this kind of punishment and I'd support him for doing so.

Stony Brook should move up into the top 25 today with this win. I say between 21 and 25.. What do you think!

or, make the offenders sit and watch while the non-offenders run.
its worked in the past!

We wound up being 23/24 which is lower than I thought. I was expecting perhaps between 19-21, but again none of it really matters. We're heading in the right direction. This was the time of year when the wheels began to come off last year. A W this weekend puts us in a fantastic position. I'd say a win this weekend virtually guarantees we crack that five win plateau.

I agree. I also think a win on Saturday pretty much assures us a playoff spot.

Oh no, no no. While a win Saturday would be huge for our playoff hopes, it's not a guarantee of anything. We'd still have UNH, Richmond, Maine, and Albany. All of those will be tough games and are could be losses. I'm not going to feel truly secure until we reach 7 wins, and even then I'd be uneasy.
Now if we can win both of these next two games and be 6-1 heading into our Bye week ahead of the Richmond game on the 28th, I'd feel very, very good about where we're at. The MVFC is really strong this year. Even I'm not entirely sure seven wins will cut it anymore. We'll see.

I'm Happy our boys are ranked. They deserve it! GO WOLVES!
