Coming off two straight losses, two straight games where we barely **** 50, with our lead man in a bit of a slide, it's hard to be brimming with confidence going into the quarterfinals. For the tournament, I think we're close to being on the same page – one win's adequate, two wins a major triumph, and three wins and an NCAA berth just beyond our wildest dreams.

No matter what happens though, it's been a very successful season in my opinion. It can end three days from now and 17 wins coming off our recent stretch, losing the three seniors and Walker, is just a tremendous effort by the coaching staff and the guys. Completely unexpected.

BUT ... we should win Wednesday. Bingo is reeling and we just beat them handily at our gym and should have won at their place too. Our last meeting was of course Jameel Warney Night, so emotions were high and the place packed on a Saturday night. You hope we can replicate that kind of effort. We held them to 33 percent shooting, dominated the glass, hit our threes, spread the scoring around, etc.

Their main guy, Rodriguez, hit the skids in a big way before seemingly finding himself against Maine. Before dropping in 26 in BU's loss to the Black Bears, Rodriguez had a five game stretch where averaged just FOUR points a game – 3, 7, 3, 2 and 5. Oddly enough, Woodhouse is averaging four a game in his last three for us.

I like our supporting cast here though. Nyama and Yeboah are solid second and third scoring options at this level, and maybe we see Sturdy or Sekunda awaken from their stupor. I also think we control the defensive glass. We may have peaked early this year, but I think we have enough oomph to get us another home game next week.

If you're wondering about the postseason, it's been a few years since the America East was represented in the NIT. Vermont's made the CBI with a record similar to ours the last two seasons, and we made it in 2014 and 2015. I don't know if it depends on Wednesday's game or not, but I think a one-and-done is a tougher sell than a 2 seed that gets ousted in the semis.

Thanks for the preview as always, Checkmate. Hopefully you get to do at least one more.

Both these teams on a skid, and someone's got to win. If Woodhouse got through whatever it was, my gut says SBU should get this one. I have to think playing at home, a stronger leader, and a deeper bench should be enough to get it done. Add to that despite the recent losses, Boals and staff have shown they can get this team up for tough situations. I guess tomorrow and hopefully at least one more game are the real test for the hints of what we've seen to date in this one-bid league--can Boals rally this group for the only 3 games that really count?

Because of various To Do tasks I've missed going to or watching the last three SBU games, but I'll be there tomorrow. Go get 'em SBU.

Rare lines on America East games tonight ...

STONY BROOK (-10) Binghamton
VERMONT (-23.5) Maine
ALBANY (-15) Hartford
NEW HAMPSHIRE (-3) UMBC

The 3 is a much bigger favorite than the 2. We've played a lot of close games and sputtered down the stretch, so I'm not terribly surprised.

Our O/U is 134. I like the under there.

SB firing on all cylinders; bingo cant finish.  woody back from the flu is outdoing pre-flu woody (3/4). 29-8 early

im sure youve all noticed the deep threes that woody has been shooting, especially in feb/march.  reuter said something like that's to attract NBA scouts.  he's just speculating, but entirely possible right!?!?!?

21 and 16 for Yeboah. The guy was barely playing two weeks ago!

Going to need another terrific effort to beat UA next week. Nichols with 34 at the moment. He's inspired for a good reason. http://m.timesunion.com/sports/article/UAlbany-s-David-Nichols-returns-to-basketball-team-10966408.php

Lamb from Vermont went 10 for 10 tonight. Just a freshman. Ridiculous.

On to Monday night. Think we'll need another Woodhouse/Yeboah night plus some serious Sturdivant to have a shot. Also, a platoon will need to put the brakes on UA's Nichols...

Should be an awesome game on Monday.

I'm elated that Yeboah has found his stroke again- he is officially confident again which is great for the team. Also it looks like whatever was ailing Woodhouse has run its course as he's back to his baseline. Also, nice to see Nyama making some big hoops.

What still concerns me is how much of a nonfactor Sturdivant has been for the last month plus. If we get by Albany (big IF!), we need some big bodies to help against Lamb/Henson- Sturdivant plays too much of a finesse role. Far too often, he just throws up the ball wildly against the hoop.

Petras is what he is- plays marginal defense IMHO. When people are driving to the hoop he just puts his two hands up too often. That being said, I'd rather him on the floor than Sturdivant right now. Still wish Campbell had shown a bit more this year.

Honestly, this team is going to be a blast to watch next year- Olaniyi, Long, and Ochefu (not sure about McKenzie yet) have been ultraproductive HS players who I think will have an impact as freshmen. We have no idea what we're gonna get with Andrew Garcia but everything I heard about him was outstanding.

Mitchell chipped in with his usually 0 points.  He broke a D1 record of most games started without scoring a point for a season.   ;D

I couldn't agree more.  Looks like Woodhouse is back, although possibly may have hit the wall a bit towards the end of the game - takes weeks to recoup fully from the flu.  Where has Sturdivant gone?  He looks totally out of synch.  His post game has run amok.  One observation I have is that when he gets the ball in the box, he holds it for 3, 4, or 5 seconds, before making a decisive move.  He needs to be more spontaneous and athletic around the rim.  As an aside, I thought Nyama was more deservant of 3rd team than Sturdivant, but perhaps I'm being jaded by latter part of season.

Not ready to look at next year, albeit exciting times indeed, until we beat Albany, and head off to Patrick.  Not to be issuing a post-mortem yet, but if we can get to the Finals, what an outstanding job Boals will have done, with a team that lost their top 4 scorers, and their all-world guy (Warney).

Go Seawolves!

In hindsight, nothing wacky happened in the first round. And doesn't something wacky ALWAYS happen in the AE tournament? For me, with a clear #1 and a very distant lump of 2-4s the only wacky thing left is for someone to beat UVM. Go have the game of your life, Leissner, and get 'em UNH!

For the Mitchell crew out there: I have to assume he will be significantly responsible for slowing down Nicholls Monday night. I'll take another oh-fer whatever from him if he can help squash Nicholls down to a more pedestrian 20 points or so.

Other than that, I'd say we need a big night from some collection of at least 3 wolves, with Woodhouse being the obvious choice to lead the charge. With Nicholls' emotions running high, two previous losses to SBU, redemption for one of the great collapses of the entire season, and the great motivator in Will Brown, UA would seem to have a lot going for it.

I hope it's a barn-burner.

Move It, you have absolutely lost your mind! You're already putting Stony Brook in the hole by 20 points.  The monumental comeback earlier in the season against Albany was all with our beloved #3 on the bench.

C'mon Lax, that comeback was a case of Divine Intervention if I've ever seen one. There were Seawolf Angels out on the floor...

Then again maybe you're right and I've lost my mind.

Being a season ticket holder has it's privileges.. I totally forgot to reserve my semi final tickets last week and just remembered this morning. When I went on-line, the computer showed that my seat and section was all full. After talking to crystal, from SB she was able to get me my seats this morning.. Kudos to Crystal for helping me with my forgetful memory...
