Title: Seawolves in the Pros
Post by: sbufan on June 30, 2015, 10:19:36 am
I wanted to start a thread dedicated to following former seawolves in the minor and major leagues.

I just saw that Kevin Krause recently underwent tommy john surgery and will miss his second minor league season. http://www.silive.com/sports/index.ssf/2015/06/kevin_krause_begins_road_back.html

Last year playing in short season A ball, Krause was absoluting raking with a .560 slg percentage.

Former Seawolf Daniel Zamora pitching in Mets game right now. . Nice. I think that’s the 5th SB player to get to the major leagues.

Stony Brook Alum Joe Nathan Now on Tap for Baseball Hall Consideration
https://stonybrookathletics.com/news/2021/1/27/stony-brook-alum-joe-nathan-now-on-tap-for-baseball-hall-consideration.aspx

Quote
"Not only did Joe earn the win, but he beats future Hall of Famer Greg Maddux," Senk said. "But the coolest part of the win was the fact that during the game Joe was wearing a Stony Brook baseball T-shirt under his uniform. I was so proud of that because I had given Joe that T-shirt at Shea Stadium when he was first called up and kiddingly told him, 'Every time you start a game I expect you to wear it.' And unbelievably he did. From there Joe's career skyrocketed, but Joe never forgot where he came from."

Love it when they use a set script and forget to fill in the blank. "The Phillies announced on Monday that Jankowski, who played for the Seawolves from xxxx, had signed a minor-league deal with the club that included an invite to major league camp."

xxxx must've been a great year

Jankowksi gets the start in center field for the Mets in their Home opener and has two hits on the day. It’s early but  he definitely adds some needed depth to the Mets outfield.

Buck Showalter talking Tavis Jankowski in pregame press conference and asking about Stony Brook’s mascot.  Pretty hilarious. https://twitter.com/snytv/status/1515717208411885583?s=21&t=EBIJYtJjNuBjFyWBc9ACbQ

I honestly don't have a problem with the Seawolves name. Better than being the 5000th Wildcat.

If you're good enough, people will remember your name. People got a lot of Saint Peter's being f*ckin peacocks.

I have no issue with “Seawolves” either.  But, it was funny watching Buck Showalter discussing it in the the press conference.

Jankowksi is out 2 months with a hand injury. He’s been an awesome depth piece for the Mets this season. His MLB career has been injury after injury.  Very unfortunate.
