Albany won the last one, but BU has had the stranglehold on this lately: http://www.americaeast.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=205000204
Looks like BC and NH have some good #s as well: http://www.americaeast.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=208807061&DB_OEM_ID=14000&DB_OEM_ID=14000

Hard to figure how Stony Brook, which is arguably the most attractive place for athletes in terms of academic rep, geographical location, and facilities (all combined) still doesn't have the top program in a weak conference. Fiore didn't do such a bang-up job after all.
-
Just pray that we get Softball and Baseball and at least make it to third place. WLAX, WTEN, SOFT, BASE wouldn't be too bad for us

No doubt we are the second best program. Albany is gonna be hard to catch up with them. They had several more tournament championships than us. We only had two... Hopefully we get #1
-
Gotta think that the better coaches and recruits would choose to come to SB over Albany. Sure there may be years where Albany has an exceptional year, but I would expect SB to come out ahead most years
-
True the City of Albany is not the garden spot of New York State by any means.

not surprising: https://stonybrookathletics.com/news/2019/4/4/together-we-transform-blog-together-we-transform-thursday-april-4-2019.aspx?path=blog
I am pleased to report that for the first time since 2012, when Boston University led the Commissioner's Cup standings following the winter season, a school other than Albany is leading this late in the year. That school is Stony Brook, and we have no intention of relinquishing the lead.

Stony Brook Earns Commissioner's Cup, Repeats as America East's Top Program
https://stonybrookathletics.com/news/2021/6/9/general-stony-brook-earns-commissioners-cup-repeats-as-america-easts-top-program.aspx
Stony Brook won regular-season or postseason titles America East titles in five sports: baseball, women's basketball, women's lacrosse, women's soccer and women's volleyball during the 2020-21 academic year.
It was the baseball team's advancement to the championship round of the America East Tournament before the event's cancellation with wins over UAlbany and Maine that provided the final four points and allowed the department to prevail.
It marks the second straight Commissioner's Cup for the Seawolves. Stony Brook won the award for the 2018-19 academic year. It was not awarded in 2019-20 as a result of the pandemic shutting down athletic programs in mid-March.

means nothing... but I'll take it.

Agreed, it doesn’t elevate the stature of the university or help recruit athletes to any particular sport.

The America East is pure garbage so yeah this is not a compliment. It's being the tallest midget. Being the best athletic program in the America East is nothing to be proud of because you're still in the America f'in East.
