He looks too slow to play midfield.

I think it's important to note that highlight video was posted in Decemeber of his freshman year of high school.

Mackenzie Rope '20
Pitt Meadows, BC / Pitt Meadows Secondary
Midfield
6'1'' 165lbs
#17
Wow, 6'1'' and he's probably around 15?
http://3dlacrosse.com/3d-rising/mackenzie-rope-2
Mackenzie was the most valuable player on offense, defense, as well as the faceoff x this weekend for BC. Starting at the x, his skills were immediately made apparent. Mackenzie’s hand speed and physical dominance allowed for him to go hot out the front and create his own fast breaks. When he wasn’t able to push the ball forward, he was still usually able to get the clamp and draw it back to his wings. While most faceoff guys take off once possession is gained, Mackenzie usually stayed on for a shift on the offensive end and contributed a number of goals and assists over the weekend. When things did happen to go the other way, his size and speed were pivotal in killing the odd man rushes and preventing transition goals from the other team.
http://www.mapleridgenews.com/sports/163107686.html
“Mackenzie makes an impact in all areas of the game,” said Hoskins. “He played a key role for us in transition as one of our top face-off specialists and was one of our main contributors offensively.” sky is the limit as far as Rope’s future goes in field lacrosse, as long as he continues to put forth the tremendous work effort he’s shown so far. Selected as a U-13 tournament all-star at the Denver team camp last summer, this is the second straight year that Mackenzie has been named to the tournament all-star team after moving up an age division in 2012,” said Hoskins. “Mackenzie is a great athlete and looks to have a very bright future in outdoor lacrosse.”
Looks like he can be used to faceoff, play offense, play defense, etc. And some time to grow!

After learning that yet another one of his players has decided on Stony Brook University, Sachem North coach Jay Mauro took a moment to reflect.
“It’s kind of crazy how it’s working out,” Mauro said.
Indeed, four current Flaming Arrows have now verballed to the Seawolves. And three former Sachem North players are current on the SBU roster.
Does any other high school from sea to shining sea have more players attending or en route to a D-I lax program? We think not. Stony Brook is located just eight miles north of Sachem North’s Lake Ronkonkoma campus.
The latest verbal came on Tuesday when 2016 attackman Tom Haun decided on SBU, a commitment first reported when it was made by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.
“He is tough, quick and has a great stick,” Mauro said of the 5-foot-8, 140-pound Haun, a lefty. “He’s an extremely diligent worker with a great attitude. It’s team-first and all he cares about is winning.”
Now, here’s a Q&A with Tom on his commitment.
What were the main factors in your decision?
Stony Brook has a great academic reputation and is a university-teaching hospital. I have an interest in a career in the medical field. I enjoyed meeting (Stony Brook Head) Coach (Jim) Nagle and (Assistant) Coach (Craig) Gibson.I appreciated Coach Nagle’s great advice and no-pressure approach.
It will also be great to play again at the college level with my teammates at Sachem North: Joe Caridi Mike Calvagna and Anthony Ross.
What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I also considered Maryland, Towson and Rutgers and visited all three schools.
What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I think I have strong stick skills, very good change of direction and great vision on the field.
What area of your game do you need to work on?
I am working on getting stronger and faster and getting more velocity on my shot.
How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I started playing in second grade and was lucky enough to have Dave Shanahan as my first coach. He made the game fun for second-graders and really gave us all a strong foundation of the game over the next couple of years.
I played a ton of hockey locally and for the Tour Roadrunners, a travel roller hockey team coached by Anthony Violante. Our team was a two-time North Roller hockey champion. I also played ice hockey, basketball, volleyball and football.
What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
Sachem stays together as a team over the summer and we play against all the elite travel teams and do very well.
I played for Suffolk in the Nassau/Suffolk Long Island Showcase at St. Joseph’s College.
Any final thoughts?
I want to thank Coach Mauro, (Assistant/Offensive Coordinator) Coach (Paul) Benway, (Assistant/Defensive Coordinator) Coach (John) Lang and the rest of the (Sachem North) coaching staff for the guidance and the endless hours they put in developing Sachem lacrosse players. Special thanks to Coach Mauro for all the help in the recruiting process.
-
Yea baby,,,Sachem always has a reputation of creating outstanding Athletes in Lacrosse a Football. Even back in the 80's, baseball. I graduated from Sachem back in the mid 80's, showing my age, and Football was our thing with the Flaming Arrows. Stars such as Jumbo Elliot, who went to Michigan I do believe, and then the NFL.. In 1983/84 they were state champs.... Coach Fred fusaro was the man back then
I just love to see our local athletes want to play for SB and wanting to stay closer to home. This is the reason why year after year our fan base is growing larger. Sachem is a HUGE school and that alone can ad thousands of additional fans to lavalle stadium. Love it. Love it !!!!!!!
-
yeah this is a good thing, a bona fide pipeline to a strong program.

This article says Blake Carrera, a sophomore LSM from Riverhead is committed to Stony Brook. (I also think I've heard that Dan Czelatka is coming to play for Nagle, but don't quote me on it.)

They just had Zach Barrett from Lynbrook in for a visit.
Starting LSM since his freshman year on a 14-1 squad. I believe he also visited Ohio State and Bingo so far. Big strong kid. He's actually my neighbors nephew so no real scoop here.
-
I saw White play football a few times this yr and was impressed. Fast and athletic always a good combo.

Nagle with another sophomore commit. http://lilacrossenews.com/2014/05/12/connectlax-boys-recruit-elwood-john-glenn-2016-midfielder-white-commits-stony-brook/

A lefty... very fast footwork... looks like a feed first, shoot second, dodge third type. He does a lot of different things and could be a good utility man. He uses both hands which you see less and less these days. And this is his freshman video. He showed some defense, some riding, open field speed, toughness, ground balls, outside shot, i like it. He can play behind or up top.
John Glenn has pulled off some really nice wins this year: http://www.laxpower.com/update14/binboy/XJGLNY.PHP
He's got time to grow (he's already 6'1''!) and one thing id like to see is when he plays defense- to come out a little more under control. He likes to press the hands, which, for a short stick, is even more rare these days. I wonder where we are thinking of using him, it seems he could be a two way mid, an X attackman, a wing middie on offense, etc. Good find.

interesting that carrera would be so intent on maryland and then switch- http://www.riverheadlocal.com/lacrosse/rising-sophomore-carrara-commits-to-university-of-maryland

Playoff update:
White at John Glenn finished up 10-7 with a respectable loss to the red hot Rocky Point. That NY B 11 is brutal. White finished with 10, 14 on his sophomore season: http://scores.newsday.com/sports/highschool/player.php?id=152443
Dugan and Commack went 11-5, no real notable wins. Dugan finished up with 13, 15 in his sophomore season: http://scores.newsday.com/sports/highschool/player.php?id=150312&schoolyear=2014
Haun at Sachem North (and also Calvagna and Ross) went 14-4, lost in the 2nd round to Smithtown East. They beat WM this year, West Islip, and earlier beat Smithtown east by 4. If the Laxpower CPU ratings are worth anything, which is likely not, they are ranked #53 nationally. Haun finished up with 24, 17: http://scores.newsday.com/sports/highschool/player.php?id=152778&schoolyear=2014

I believe Czelatka is senior this season.

this guy is a manchild. has great size and knows how to use it (6'5'' already). plays for a national powerhouse team with a winning tradition. still time to hone skills but has both hands and uses them. he looks like he likes to play behind and step above the GLE to threaten. has no problem dodging and taking body inside.
id like to see him move more off-ball. i also want to see him extend his arms more when carrying with one hand; he will get more checks at the next level and you need to protect that stick. he's got some really nice dodges and stick skills at a young age and shooting seems to be one of his strengths.

That powerhouse team lost 23-9 to Massapequa in the Champ Game
-
nearly everyone lost to pequa- except chaminade and GC. they are the real deal and crushed nearly every other team. nisky made it to the state finals in as strong of a state as there is. nothing to sneeze about. pequa is a legitimate top 5 team nationally; nisky isnt quite there but not far off. they gave darien a great game too.

i watched the videos... not afraid to hit. plays good position defense. looks like a good transition middie that can play both ways.
likes to play on the crease which is nice as a mid. will get looks in our 141 or 22 tight. looks like an offball player on offense, not necessarily an initiator. his 10 yard shoot is good.

Brody is best described as a complete attackman, with a soft touch around the net, great vision and good decision making, Brody is an impact player on offense. Brody has a remarkable first step and can use his speed and size to get underneath defenders and drive hard to the net. The 6'1, 175lbs attackman from Caledon, ON posses a tremendous shot, whether it's on the run, in tight, or from outside. Using his size and hands, Brody has no issues playing inside and is automatic around the cage.
Brody first began his lacrosse career at the age of 3, playing in the Caledon Minor Lacrosse Association and is now currently aspiring to play Junior lacrosse next summer.

Daniel Hand went 14-6 last season. that's three mids in that class that are listed as FO. looks like he can play defensive midfield too. he's a lefty. plays basketball and football (WR) too. I think his brother was a FOGO at siena.

There is no way this kid runs on the track team, but possibly involved in the shotput. The problem with the two Nisky kids coming to Stony Brook is that are on the slow side. They both have tremendous size and strength, but their lack of speed will hurt them at the next level.

QB/SS on the football team. a nice feature story here: http://yourniskayuna.com/blog/2015/09/16/jake-shephard-provides-leadership-for-niskayuna-football/
For Furey, though, Shephard does as much with his words as with his right arm and legs. At practice, Shephard is the one who will get on teammates to do a drill again when insufficiently executed — and, then, congratulate them when it’s done right.
“When you have a kid that will do that, it makes your life that much easier,” Furey said. “It’s tremendous when he takes over like that.”
A high school athlete cannot do that unless he has credibility with his teammates — and Shephard has that in spades. When not on the gridiron, Shephard has been an all-league defender for Niskayuna’s state championship-winning lacrosse squad, while he’s the president for a school club that promotes healthy living for student-athletes.
“Having Jake as a captain is incredible for us,” said Brandon Munger, a senior defensive back for Niskayuna. “He’s always keeping people on task and make sure the underclassmen — and the upperclassmen — are doing their jobs right.”

3. Ward Melville (N.Y.), 3-0
The Patriots won three games last week by a combined six goals, including an impressive 9-8 decision over former No. 2 Chaminade (N.Y.) on Saturday. Connor Grippe, Christoper Grillo and Andrew Lockhart each netted two goals for the Patriots. Dennis Kellerman recorded a point-blank save – his 10th of the game – with two seconds left to secure the win. Previous ranking: 7

faceoff mid Tristan Dowd: http://www.zip06.com/sports/20160516/several-stepping-up-to-keep-the-tigers-strong
The Tigers’ captains this season are senior Tristan Dowd, who commands the draws, and midfielder Reid Swietzer. Dowd will attend Stony Brook University next year, while Sweitzer, an All-SCC Second Team selection last spring, is headed to UMass. Both athletes are talented on the turf and Coach Deon added they each bring an extra dose of energy to the rest of the team with their intellect and passion for the game.
“Tristan is our face-off specialist. He is passionate about the game and a student of it. He is constantly studying the ins and outs of his craft. He leads by example, which rubs off well on the others,” said Deon.
assistant coach? Adam Rand. A great sign!!!

grippe (munoz too) at ward Melville (nagle's alma mater!) beat whitman, connetquot, and Syosset. the next play Lakeland today in the class A state final. over those three games, munoz scored 6,3 and grippe had 5,6.
laxmagazine ranks HS teams nationally (can't mean much) but said this:
5. Ward Melville (N.Y.), 17-3
The Patriots are riding an eight-game win streak into the Class A state semifinals, thanks to a stingy defense that has not allowed any opponent to score more than eight goals during their run. Ward Melville topped Connetquot (N.Y.), 13-5, in the Suffolk A championship, then followed that with a 9-5 win over Syosset in the Long Island Class A championship game as Connor Grippe (Stony Brook) finished with two goals and two assists. Eddie Munoz (Stony Brook) added three goals for the Patriots, who face Lakeland/Panas in the state semifinals Wednesday.

byrne and shephard (wolff too) at nisky defeated guilderland (byrne had 4) but was upset by Shen in the Section A finals.
dowd at hand lost again to Fairfield prep, but then beat berlin and pomperaug, play New Fairfield today.

grippe at WM (munoz too) lost in the NY Class A finals to Victor, 7-5. I cant find a box score, but I guess here's some good news, I think grippe had 2 and munoz had 1: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/high-school/2016/06/11/victor-wins-boys-class-state-lacrosse-title/85749752/
The Patriots (18-4) bounced back to take a 5-4 lead as Connor Grippe scored with 5:08 left in the third, and then Eddie Munoz took a feed from Dominic Pryor and beat Victor goalie Chayse Ierlan 55 seconds into the fourth quarter.
http://www.mpnnow.com/sports/20160611/victor-boys-win-second-straight-state-title/?Start=2
The result was three straight Victor goals as Dan Barrow and Ryan Maloney tied the game with goals one minute apart, and Andrew Russell’s goal at 8:08 gave Victor a 4-3 lead. Grippe tied the game three minutes later with another goal on the run, and Eddie Munoz fired a rocket past goalie Chayse Ierlan at 11:05 of the fourth quarter for a 5-4 lead.
http://tbrnewsmedia.com/tag/connor-grippe/
Senior attack and midfielder Connor Grippe bounced in a good goal before Victor scored unassisted with its first goal of the game for a 3-1 halftime advantage over a team that averaged 16 goals per game up to that point.
Victor proved why it is undefeated though, and scored three unanswered goals before Grippe moved the ball to the middle and stretched the netting unassisted, to knot the game at four goals apiece with 5:08 left in the third.
The teams remained in a stalemate until the fourth, when junior attack Eddie Munoz rocketed a shot between the pipes from up top to give the Patriots a 5-4 advantage, but again, the Blue Devils proved what they are really made of.

5. Ward Melville (N.Y.), 18-4
The Patriots won nine straight games en route to the Class A title game, where they lost 7-5 to Victor. Ward Melville was just the second team all season to hold a deep and dangerous Victor squad under 10 goals. Connor Grippe (Stony Brook) scored two goals for the Patriots, who topped Lakeland/Panas, 16-6, in the state semifinals. Eddie Munoz (Stony Brook) netted five goals in the semifinal win.
