Women's Tennis is America East Champions for the second straight year after beating Albany in the Finals. I'm glad for them. Last year they travelled Cross-country to Stanford. Lets see how it goes this year.
-
It will be a matchup of "the Berkeley of the East" vs UC Berkeley in the first round of the NCAAs. Lets go ladies!!!
-
Berkeley of the West will cream Berkeley of the East. That's the way it goes with individual sports like tennis. With true team sports, there's always a chance that some team "dynamic" will kick in and give the underdog a fighting chance. That just doesn't happen with individual sports like tennis and track. Still, I'm glad we won the America of the East conference.

Now for our Lady lax Team to make some noise.

OT.. but was wondering why don't we change this main thread title to "SBU All Other Sports" and move Women's Basketball, Women's Lacross and Men's Soccer along with all the Olympic sports under one main thread. The main fan traffic seems to be only towards FB, MBB, MLax and Baseball.
And keep the other thread "Conference and Athletics" as it is.
-
Fair enough. I'll look into that!

Women's tennis earns the America East champioship. Our only title in this athletic year. Lets hope Baseball and Women's lacrosse earn a title also. Its looking like a down year so far

EcasadoSBU. Any idea who that poster on the other forum is insinuating in reference to one of our players transferring out? I actually signed up today on that Forum under the name Seawolf nut and ask the same question. ..I'm thinking, if there's any truth to it then maybe it's Kameron Mitchell

I heard on AE forum that AE will discontinue men's tennis. Binghamton joined MAC. What are our options?
1) We can follow Bingo to MAC for tennis. But unlikely since with Bingo they have even 6 members needed for Auto bid.
2) We can join CAA. But again unlikely. They have 7 members currently, but strong Elon tennis will be joining them next year to round off at 8.
3) ECAC.. most likely. Most of the ecac members are Ivy schools or other peer north east schools.

Mens swimming and diving will need a new conference also if they re start swimming. AE dropped both mens tennis and swimming. I don't think we want to drop either.
-
Our Ladies are the AE Champs again in 2015 winning there fourth straight title ! On to the NCAA'S
-
Albany announced they are dropping mens and womens tennis after this season. So where does that put SBU ? I know our AD wants to expand sports but now tennis and before that swimming have been put on hold. We seem to be shrinking in the AE not expanding.

swimming to be reinstated, pool to reopen: http://www.stonybrookathletics.com/sports/w-swim/spec-rel/082616aaa.html
where did tennis get put on hold???
-
America East dropped Mens Tennis at the end of the school year 2016. So we either go independent , join a new conference or drop the sport all together . Binghamton is in the MACC as of September for tennis, I suspect we will do the same .
