Stony Brook Baseball made program history tonight. The Seawolves won their first regionals and go on to face LSU this Friday

Friday @ Noon, ESPN2
Saturday @ Noon, ESPN2
Sunday @ 1pm, ESPN2**

Seawolves fans have always been having to settle for "almost," even in the past few years when the sports program has have been improving. But not with this team. Reaching the Super Regionals is a significant accomplishment even for the most elite teams. I didn't get to follow the entire game last night but was prepared for a loss when I checked the news this morning, but not this time!

It won't be easy, but I think they can take 2 of 3 from LSU. Not probable, but certainly possible.

We might have some good match-ups there because our pitching staff is almost entirely right handed and 6 of our bats including our 4 best sluggers bat lefty.

Thats what Miami thought until the game ended 10-2.

This is also like a redux of football season when SB advanced and #1 Sam Houston State repeatedly said "you aint ready" and found themselves down 10 in the third quarter. Good luck Louisiana State U, you might just need it.

When you get to LSU, you will find a great fan base who loves to tailgate and is very willing to share it with any visitors, but be prepared to be “tiger bated” as we fill your plate with jambalaya. Our fans will applaud and cheer for any good play regardless of the team.

I remember a few years ago when Army lost at our regional. The crowd cheered them and had them circle the field to a standing ovation because they had played their hearts out.

Like any team website, we have a certain number of idiots here at LSU and you will probably have some of them ranting here. Please don’t judge us all by them.

My guess on starting pitchers is McNitt on Friday. If McNitt wins, I'm hoping we save Johnson for Sunday and start Vanderka who was great last weekend on Saturday. I don't know what we'll get from Johnson.

I would keep an eye on Maxx Tissenbaum. He's batting .390 with only 6 strikeouts in 223 at bats and was drafted in the 11th round with Carmona. Everyone in the lineup is a capable hitter though. I'm hoping our lefties Jankowski, Tissenbaum, Goldstein, Courtney and switch hitters Carmona and Peragine can give LSU's RHPs some trouble.

that may be the most lefty heavy lineup we've faced this year.

chances are, we'll start Nola tomorrow, and Gausman on Saturday. If we're playing on Sunday, Eades will get the start (and will probably have a short leash).

Gausman is our best starter, but going with Nola tomorrow will allow him to potentially make a relief appearance Sunday if we need him to.

our bullpen is deep with better than average talent.
but best case scenario for us, is to only use 2 guys each game.
Cotton in the 8th, and Goody in the 9th.
Anything more than that, and we're pushing our luck.

rain is almost a definite for the mid-late innings tomorrow, and Saturday may be even worse.
we may see multiple weather delays over the course of the weekend, which could take a toll on both pitching staffs.

SBU 1st baseman runs into the fans and gets a foul ball in the stands to end the inning...

the most fundamentally sound college baseball teams I've seen all year by far (except their SS who is pretty erratic with his throws to 1st base)

I've watched a ton of college baseball this year and these guys are the real deal. better fundamentals than all the SEC giants (LSU,Florida, South Carolina and Arkansas)

These guys had 7 guys drafted this week in the MLB Draft. Impressive.

The bright side of all this is that we get more TV exposure, and we can still get to Omaha with a WIN.

I think we can all agree that SBU has outplayed LSU in BOTH games... They can do it again tomorrow.

P.S: If any of you have free time, check out the tigerdroppings fan site. The LSU fans are literally going nuts.... LOL...

The people who applauded McNitt yesterday are hopefully more indicative of the fan base. But I have my doubts.

Have to think our guys will have a pretty good idea of what he'll be throwing. Eades is no pushover, he was the pitcher of the year in the Cape last summer, but he does give up more hits and walks than LSU's #1 and 2 starters. I think we'll put up runs tomorrow, and the game will come down to how our bull pen performs.

I'd be shocked if this doesn't bring in some serious donation money. I have no doubt they'll be seeing some facility upgrades in the near future. What I want is to see Long Islanders come out and support the team! We just beat LSU. People on Long Island should have been waiting on line, for a while, to get tickets to see these kids play!

Also when App State took 2 of 3 earlier in the year the LSU fans on their message board were less than gracious fans. Another reason to pull for you guys, LSU fans are just a bit too entitled, then again that seems to be true with the majority of the fans from the big 6 conferences.

As a life long LSU fan I can tell you that I have seen this before. LSU fans appreciate good baseball and know it when they see it. The Stony Brook team is extremely talented and well coached. We lost the series but know exactly what we saw. I didn't get the chance to meet any of the handful of Stoney Brook fans at the games, but I saw several walking around. They appeared to be having a good time. Hope they all did.

Y'all should really drop everything and travel to Omaha. LSU fans go every year, whether we are in it or not. It will be a continuation of the large crowd atmosphere y'all had in Baton Rouge. Good luck and win it all.
