Heilbron was also brought in because he was a "$ guy". I don't know why Larsen is exceeding at the thing Heilbron is failing at.

Heilbron was viewed and touted as a fund raising guy, and I think he did a decent job of that over at Oregon St.  Larsen started out as Ticket Mgr, and evolved into the overall financial guy (end-to-end) at SBU under Fiore.  Apparently, he was trained well and/or made the most of his responsibilities.
How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)

Next week I will attend CAA meetings in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and for the first time will be there not just as a football AD, but a full-member AD.

This is a major inflection point in college athletics as the NCAA Transformation Committee will soon recommend sweeping reform that will create a tidal wave of change across the Division I landscape. It is no longer a question. Change is coming.

Your Stony Brook Seawolves are ready for all of it.

Although our defense held the potent North Carolina offense to their lowest scoring output on the season (by six goals), the game ended in a tough 8-5 loss. It was a gut-wrenching loss for our team, and I felt for our women who competed at an elite level and gave everything that they had.

Our women's lacrosse team has become a Power Five program outside of a Power Five conference.

We will break through. After that meeting with Joe in 2014, I knew that it would only a matter of time before we win a national title. I still believe that just as I believed his comment about the America East – 60-0 against the league since that conversation confirmed it.

good stuff, GO SB

ATHLETICS UPDATE1
Stony Brook student-athletes earned a cumulative 3.15 GPA for the 2021-22 academic year.
Women’s soccer and women’s tennis tied for the highest team GPA with a 3.6.
Women’s Lacrosse finished the season ranked No. 5 after reaching the NCAA quarterfinals for
the third time in four seasons. The team just missed out on reaching the first-ever Final Four,
losing to No. 1 and eventual national champion North Carolina, 8-5, despite holding a 4-3 halftime
advantage. Sophomore midfielder Ellie Masera became the first Stony Brook underclass student athlete
to receive first-team All-America honors.
Baseball won the regular season America East title for the third consecutive season while senior
third baseman Evan Giordano was named as the conference’s Player of the Year.
Softball finished the season with 31 wins, the second-highest total since 2014 after winning 32
games in 2019. Graduate pitcher Ditcher Dawn Bodrug set the school single-season record with
285 strikeouts.

We are fired up for the first official event of the academic year as our women's soccer team hosts Fordham tonight at 6 p.m. in LaValle Stadium.

The next team to jump into their new season is men's soccer on Thursday, August 25, at LIU, followed by volleyball making their season debut at home on Friday, August 26, against Quinnipiac.

The lights in LaValle Stadium will be shining bright in two weeks as our football team opens the season against Rhode Island at 7 p.m. There is so much to be excited about as I believe we will take the field with one of our strongest and deepest teams since I arrived in 2014.

He got us to the CAA, but the CAA added a bunch of deadweight along with us, and after seeing the score tonight, I can't help but feel like we're somehow declining now. Very sad.

He is also directly responsible for us still having Priore, as he gave him a mindless 4-year extension in 2018. The worst decision in program history, maybe? He has done bad in all of those 4 extra years. Completely stupid decision making.

There is a strong possibility Chuck P and his football team goes winless. The O line could not block RI blitz attack. Partially the fault of the players, but mostly on chuckey Cheeze's game plan. Josh Zimot is bad, really bad but Chucky will most likely make him the starter. Sounds familiar?? Yeah, same old, same old team. Only one person to blame for this..

i was waiting for someone to say this as i didnt know enough about the new additions, and everyone seemed excited about them.  but i wasnt and thought i just didnt know enough about howard and NCAT.

anyway, its one game, its early, last year we turned it around mid-season.  it's too bad the shine wore off our CAA move so quickly!  ::)

They added Hampton, not Howard, though I wish they'd have added Howard(very good school). Instead we got Monmouth and NC A&T who are both so so additions. Then we've got Campbell coming in next year which makes even less sense. Not sure what the league office is thinking on some of these moves. A&T at least adds another school in NC for recruiting, and I can't really say anything about their program since they'd beat us this year easily the way things are looking.

Had the league been able to add us, Hampton, and Howard, or even just us and Hampton I think that would have been good. As is we're getting too big for our level.
