Adam Rubin new Associate AD for Strategic Communications
« on: December 05, 2019, 08:05:44 pm »
Big fan of Adam when he worked for ESPN covering the Mets- he had a similar role to what he will do at SBU at NYIT the last few years. I think he will fit in very nicely in this role- from a social media standpoint, he was great with ESPN. I think this was a very cool hire by Heilbron

I love the Rubin hire. Social media is king these days in terms of spreading your audience, and bringing in a big name like him to take over things will surely benefit us. The man has almost 100K Twitter followers from his days as a Mets reporter. He’s a BBWAA member who votes for the Hall of Fame. I guarantee you at least a thousand people found out about Stony Brook for the first time yesterday just due to his massive following.

It's a start but if Stony brook wants to become a big-time school athletically, they better start cleaning house with football and start bringing in higher caliber, well known, or big name assistants coaches to help make this football team better. Coach P is a small time coach, better for a D2 or D3 school.

SH finally did the right thing with men's Lax by firing Nagle and hiring a well known, local coach who has strong ties to the hot bed long island schools. The lax program is going to be a force in a couple of years here on the Island.

just had a full listen- great inaugural interview with heilbron (discussing the indoor facility and athlete compensation for likeness), then tom koehler, then spallina with ohlmiller.

i love spallina's message- blue collar, work ethic, player development, good isnt good enough.

you guys should give it a try.  maybe they should interview checkie for basketball previews!!!

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

PS- using a theme for the name- "howl"- is a step in the right direction for branding.  well done SB.

Adam Rubin is a real gem. I’m so glad we got him.

Also love that Shawn mentioned higher conference aspirations. Definitely a necessity for our school.

Wow, that was fast! Stony Brook was never going to be his final stop so I'm assuming some higher school took him away from us. I haven't been following along too closely in my older age but it seemed like he improved Stony Brook's social media team and quality of the baseball broadcasts. Some of the postgame releases were a bit weak but I didn't notice any problems with him here, unless I missed something.

He's not going on to bigger, better places. He made a lot of enemies within the department, and alienated most people, culminating in him screaming at two employees, in front of others.
