Not many Northeast programs can compete early season with the southern programs early in the year. I don't think anybody thinks a team from the CAA is a national championship contender when you are competing against the SEC/Big 12/etc
They still have the potential to make a lot of noise and it will be interesting to see how they handle the CAA this year.
Problem is, the CAA has a few Southern teams like College of Charleston, which just lost a one-run game to Clemson on Tuesday. They had 10-game winning streak before they dropped the final game to William & Mary over the weekend. They even beat Coastal Carolina. And Elon opened its season playing three tight games against Kentucky, then kicked butt on a few northern teams themselves.
Seawolves get their first taste of in-conference Southern hospitality when they go down to Charleston this weekend. By the way, that's where the CAA tournament will be played.
