2012 MLB draft
« on: June 10, 2012, 01:36:19 pm »
Okay I figured I would put all the Stony Brook draft information under one thread and we can update when news comes out about players signing or enrolling at Stony Brook.

Current roster draft picks

Travis Jankowski 1st round by the San Diego Padres - he's looking at a 7 figure signing bonus.
Pat Cantwell 3rd round by the Texas Rangers
Maxx Tissenbaum 11th round by the San Diego Padres
William Carmona 11th round by the Philadelphia Phillies
James Campbell 12th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers
Jasvir Rakkar 26th round by the Chicago Cubs
Tyler Johnson in the 33rd round by the Oakland Athletics

Incoming freshman drafted

Johnny Caputo 13th round by the Oakland athletics
Daniel Zamora 27th round by the Toronoto Blue Jays

Here's a good article on the new collective bargaining agreement and how it affected this years draft. http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/alex-speier/2012/05/31/entering-new-world-order-2012-red-sox-draft-pr

Good for them!  Hopefully in a few years we will  have some more Major League players joining Joe Nathan .

So it looks like all seven of our drafted players have signed professional contracts. Good luck to them going forward!
