SBU-BNL Energy Hub
« on: June 28, 2012, 02:44:48 am »
Stony Brook and Brookhaven National Lab are bidding for 120 million dollar grant. I hope Schumer has some pull within the Department of Energy  because it would be pretty cool to be DOE "energy hub." Also worth noting is Stony Brook was able to poach a distinguished faculty member, Esther Takeuchi, from Buffalo. Dr. Takeuchi is a member of the prestigious National Academy of Engineering. I believe she'll be our only faculty member to be in the academy of engineering which is one of the main academies for measuring the quality of a school's faculty.

Becoming an Energy Hub  could be a real boost for the university and our science  departments. I dont think Schumer  would have stopped by if he thought we didnt have a chance.
